Top 7 Scorers for KenSucky will Declare for NBA Draft

Josh can't, or won't read. He just launches into a diatribe assuming the worst. He's close to my very short ignore list.

Whether you put me on your ignore list or not, I'm just stating my opinion. I'm around UK fans every single day of the week at work and in my own home. You won't believe the crap I have to listen too every day when its basketball season. They act like Cal is the greatest coach ever and yes I've had UK fans at work tell me he's better than Coach K, Izzo, Pitino, just ongoing crap like that. It's just a shame cause I know there's some reasonable fans out there but there's also those type of UK fans who won't take off their blue glasses for a minute. I give Cal credit for his recruiting abilities but I don't think he's the best coach in the game right now like some UK fans around here say he is.

***** all you want about other fans. We're not "other fans" here.

The problem here isn't that Kentucky fans are acting like Cal is the greatest coach to ever walk the earth. It's that the overwhelming majority of haters in this thread think the only thing a head basketball coach does is recruit and then coach within the games. As if there's nothing done on off days or the time from getting them on campus until the first game begin. You know, the period where about 75% of coaching actually takes place.

No one can justifiably defend Cal as the best in game coach. But that makes up very little coaching overall. The haters are refusing to understand or come to grips with that fact. Someone even wanted to use last year against him since he had so many freshmen that were talented. As if they just walk on campus and are the best things around. It took Cal quite a long time to figure it out, but he finally brought the team together. This year's team, full of NBA talent from beginning to end played the most unselfish ball on both ends of the court and really bought into the college style. To act like that's not GREAT coaching is asinine.

So... What part of that 75% is preparing your team before the final four game? That's not in game coaching. That's preparation. I'm only asking because you tend to tell several others in here they know nothing about basketball. All the while defending a coach who didn't let his team watch film on the competition. To crown any coach as a good or great coach that doesn't prepare his elite team is asinine.

And please don't give that bs about in game coaching being such a small portion of the game. Recruiting, preparation, and in game coaching are the the biggest parts of the game. Call is great at only one of them while almost completely ignoring another.

laughing that you look at his strategy for one game and assume he fails at preparation all the time. Yet he prepared this year's team so well that

THEY

ONLY

LOST

ONE

GAME

ALL

YEAR.

Clearly, he had them unprepared all season. Get real kid.

1. Conversations and disagreeing is part of this. And I like these conversations. Lowering to the level of calling me a kid when I'm 30 and have two of my own, is only going to piss people off. As well as show the type of class you have.

2. There is nothing to suggest that hasn't been his strategy all year and judging by his interview I can assume that it had been since he said we only like to focus on ourselves and not the other team.

3. Not preparing for that one game when it will put your team into the game you've been playing for all year makes him either stupid or and average coach that relied on his teams talent. I'm assuming he's not stupid.

You can disagree all you want. Just keep it classy. :)

Wow. Then act 30 and grow up. It's a phrase man. Still asinine to pretend he didn't have the team prepared when

yeah. Since you can't really defend yourself any longer, knew you'd go that route too.

I have no reason to defend myself. This isn't a fight. I've stated my opinions and the reasons why I have those opinions. You have done the same, expect decided to be childish about it. Calling people fools, calling me a kid, and to grow up because I don't agree with your opinion. You telling me to grow up when you're the one who can't defend his opinions without childish name calling is funny. That's the difference here.

I'm sure we'll cross paths again.. But man.. I'm done with this conversion right now.

Lol. I didn't tell you to grow up because you don't agree with my opinion. I didn't call you a kid for that reason. I used a phrase and instead of having an argument against the fact that

THEY

ONLY

LOST

ONE

GAME

ALL

YEAR

you just started whining, and ironically, acting like a kid. But ok. Cal's awful, because well, you think so. Nevermind that he's made 4 of 5 Final Fours, a national title, the most wins ever in a single season twice and put up numbers every coach in America would like to have. But he's awful, because well, Bo Ryan beat him once.

People forget this too, but this is actually the third time Cal has hit 38. The only teams ever to win that many games are 2008 Memphis, 2012 Kentucky, and 2015 Kentucky. All three had the same coach. That's impressive no matter how you look at it.

Put another way, in the category of 38-win seasons:
John Calipari: 3
Every other coach in history, combined: 0

He's average though, amirite?

People don't tend to not let facts get in the way on VN.
You pretty much slammed the door shut with stats that are pretty amazing, especially in the modern basketball era.

None of those UK fans fans you mentioned are posting in this thread.

For the most part the UK fans here are knowledgeable and objective enough to give Cal his due, while fully acknowledging that Coach K is the top dog.

It's amazing how it comes across that people think it's so easy to win a championship. There are so many different factors that come into play when making a run in just about every sport. IMHO Bama was the best college football team this past year, but they ran into a buzz saw in OSU and Lane got in his own way. UK was probably the best team this year and Cal had those guys really clicking and believing in what they were doing. That is no small accomplishment, Cal is a master at recruiting and psychology, I think he's a very good coach, but the whole not watching film thing really reeks of arrogance. I get the whole "it's not what we do, it's how we do it" mentality, but once you get to the final 4, most of the time anyone can beat you.
