Top 50 Defensive Back Coaches in College Football

Do a top 50 defensive coordinators while we are at it.
We had a Top 25 scoring defense last year and ranked in the Top 10 in sacks. We have steadily improved on defense every year.

When you add in how many more possessions/plays other teams get due to how we play offense, I’m not sure DC is our problem. And our defensive recruiting is improving as well. Personally, I’m happy with the overall defense.

You do realize it’s someone’s opinion right?

Me too. Banks should be much higher. Would not be surprised to see him in the top 10 after this season. I don't think I would trade him for any DC on the list. Few would have done as well with the tools he's had to work with.

We have lacked talent/depth at CB since Pruitt was canned. I' don't much love for Martinez, but at the same time, you can only work with what you have. Granted that is also on the coaches for not recruiting better. Recruiting seems to be getting better though.

I think this is a big year for Banks and Martinez. We must show improvement on the back end. If our secondary struggles again this year, I’m confident that our head coach will cash his chips in and look for a replacement. No reason this defense should not show drastic improvement with the DL we have. Banks should be able to dial up pressure with the talent we have in the front end. If our 3rd down efficiency doesn’t improve this year then it never will under Banks and Willie. Go Vols!

No. 20 Tim Banks, Tennessee

The blueprint has always been there, from his days at UCF. The recruiting of coach Josh Heupel and his staff has allowed it to play out on the field. The more the roster upgrades, the more dangerous the defense becomes. And it made huge strides last season, allowing 20.3 points per game.
