27. Phil Fulmer, Tennessee – Fulmer’s record says top 5, but everyone else says, no thanks. He is the dean of SEC coaches and a future Hall of Famer, but he’s also going to be 56 at the start of the season and has spent the last 25 years in the same program. Starting over in a brand new town, let alone wearing a color other than orange on the sidelines, would be like asking Teddy Kennedy to adopt the Republican ideology. Plus, Fulmer hasn’t exactly been peaking the last couple of seasons. The Vols had their worst season in 17 years in 2005, and David Cutcliffe was brought back to Knoxville to instill a little discipline and structure.
14-Year Record: 128-37 (7-6 in bowl games)
14-Year Record Before He Arrived: 105-52-8 (7-4 in bowl games)

Not to sound touche`

but I like Richt.

I am proud of Fulmer and what he's done. I don't want to see that change (unless circumstances like last year make me change my mind), but as far as other coaches, I like how Mark runs Georgia's program.

he's proven himself against Fulmer.

Aside from the obvious, I really respect Mark and what he's all about. I would say the same thing even if he was just an average coach. I just like how he conducts himself.

Mark Richt and Kirk Ferentz at 3 and 4 respectively is assinine. Iowa folded, last year (not to the monumental extent that the Vols did) but nevertheless, they were supposed to make real noise last year. What is the fascination with Ferentz. He is a good recruiter, but what has he really done? The media always loved Hayden Fry as well. I cannot explain it.

So what is your reasoning behind Richt at #3 being assinine?

They had an opportunity to take their program to the next level in Greene's senior season, but he could not beat Florida or UT that year. If I remember correctly, he made a few bonehead coaching mistakes that year in particular. They were loaded last year as well, but they haven't taken steps that Auburn and LSU have taken to seal the deal. Putting him ahead of Spurrier and Tuberville is unacceptable.

I'm not as enamored with Ferentz as some are, but I remember how bad Iowa was when he took over. They were a member of my official "Bet Against" list.

Seriously, that is freaking ridiculous. Nobody even hinted that Fulmer should be #1. Nobody even said #27 was disagreeable.

Quit trying soooooo hard to be different, rebellious, or whatever you're trying to do.

I would say Friedgen, Tubberville, Miles, and Ferentz were overrated in that list.
