1. 1998: 20-17 OT in Knoxville
MOST IMPORTANT REGULAR SEASON GAME 4 UT IN '98. ENDED 5-GAME LOSING STREAK TO THE GATORS AND PUT THE VOLS IN FIRM CONTROL OF SEC EAST. JEFF HALL'S 41-YARD FIELD GOAL IN OT SENT VOL FANS SRPINTING ONTO THE FIELD. THAT'S THE ONLY TIME I CAN REMEMBER THAT VOL FANS HAVE TORN DOWN THE GOALPOSTS AFTER A GAME.

2. 2001: 34-32 in Gainesville
THE VOLS WENT INTO THE GAME AS 18 POINT UNDERDOGS AND CAME OUT ON TOP. IT CAME DOWN TO FINAL MINUTE, AND REX GROSSMAN THREW A POOR PASS ON A 2-POINT CONVERSION ATTEMPT THAT FELL INCOMPLETE. OH YEAH, AND TRAVIS STEPHENS AVERAGED 12 YARDS PER CARRY THAT NIGHT. UT WON EAST, LOST SEC.

3. 2004: 30-28 in Knoxville
ERIK AINGE'S FIRST SEC GAME, AND HE PLAYED VERY WELL, THROWING 3 TDS. SOPHOMORE JAMES WILHOIT'S 51-YARD FIELD GOAL WITH 7 SECONDS LEFT ON THE CLOCK PROVIDED FINAL MARGIN FOR UT. VOLS CLAIM EAST AGAIN, BUT LIKE IN '01, LOSE SEC.

4. 1990: 45-3 in Knoxille
HOW BADLY DID WE KILL THEM? OUR BACKUP TIGHT END THREW A TD PASS. CARL PICKENS HAD A GREAT NIGHT.

5. 2003: 24-10 in Gainseville
CASEY CLAUSEN'S LAST GAME VS. FLORIDA. ONLY SENIOR QB SINCE I GUESS '91 TO BEAT UF. GREAT DEFENSIVE GAME.

I would say 2001 was a better game than 1998, just by how entertaining it was, not by importance. I watched the replay of 1998 today and it wasn't as good as 2001 IMO.

Of the games I can remember watching

1. 2001
2. 2004
3. 2000 (not limiting to games we won)
4. 2006

Those are the only games within 1 score.

I hate to point this out but there have only been six wins for us that anyone under the age of 45 would be old enough to remember....Our best performance against them was in 2001.

I can go with that. The only thing I would replace is the '03 game with the '92 contest in the rain.

I always liked the 1970 game. Doug Dickey came back to Knoxville, only he was coaching Florida. Tennessee did a number on FLorida in the rain that day. I believe the final was 38-7.

I was there, forgot to mention that it was Darth Visors last game in the Swamp. Jason Whitten dropped almost every pass thrown to him in the first half but came out and made up for it in the second.

Don't forget about 1992. Sun shining bright, then "wham!!"

My companion for that game was a well endowed young lady who wore a white shirt that day. She was a little insulted that I had offered her my own shirt, until she came to the realization that she was drenched.

Not even close. I'm not sure Neyland has come close to the atmosphere that night.

I disagree...how can a defense that gives up 32 points be one of our BEST?

Overall, the best performance has to be either 1990 45-3 or 2003, 24-10

The quality of Florida's offense between those years is the difference.....In 2003 Florida had already lost to Miami while blowing a big lead and the 1990 game was in Neyland in Spurrier's first season.....2001 was special because it was in the Swamp and one of Spurrier's best teams. They were ranked first in most every offensive category.

How about the game against Arkansas in 1998 when we came from behind. When stoerner fumbled the ball.

My favorite was beating them in the swamp in 2001.

But the best game has got to be 1998...

and 2004 was also a rockin good time

I'd have to say 98 just bc the stadium was absolutely rockin that night and then we stormed the field absolutely awesome. Also in 92 I still remember a sign in the endzone it said hurricane Heath is about to touchdown.

Well I guess you guys got even in 2004 with the fantastic clock management.

Had the clock been properly stopped when the infraction occurred and the flag was thrown, Wilhoit's kick would have cleared with :03 on the clock instead of :06.

So Florida actually had a better chance to win due to a factor that you complain about.
