5. He is a great recruiter.
* So is Urban Meyer, Les Miles, Mark Richt and Nick Saban. Exactly what have those "awesome" recruiting classes done for us lately? Its not enough that you can catch the fish, you gotta know how to cook them.

4. He has given his all for Tennessee.
* So what. He makes 2+ Million dollars a year. Why is it that Fulmer is given a pass by some for tearing us down, simply because he is from Tennessee, coached at Tennessee...etc... Who cares. I dont care if the coach is from freaking Berekely California, is a satan worshipper and nudist. I just want to fu*king win.

3. He built us up, we owe him another chance.
* He has been getting "another" chance to win anything of significance for 10 years. I dont expect to win an SEC Championship every year, but I do expect something every now and then. Another year = another ho-hum record.

2. Fulmer has equity, look at the National Championship in 1998.
* That is ancient history. Nobody cares anymore.

1. I am scared of a transition period with a new coach.
* How the hell could iut be any worse than what it is now? Scared of losing to Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia in the same year? Oh wait! Grow a pair.

If you still support this man I'd say you need to seek therapy...because your sense of reality is gone.He was a good coach for a long while but the last 7-8 years has been terrible...go ahead and throw out the SECCG s we've been to.Haven't won one since the championship season...his coaching has been passed by and grown stale and is an eyesore to watch...please come down to reality and quit supporting this man...he will never get us back on top again.

I think I saw somewhere on this board that "He's a good christian man". That could make the list, no?

That would totally make the list. If we dont get Peterson because some dont like the fqact he is a scientologist, I think Ill pull my damn hair out.

It's painful around here sometimes but, there's been more good than bad, Bad is the word of the season now.I think that if the AD wants to give him 6 mil. to walk, fine. I rather him stay about 2 more seasons if there is not an SEC title in the mix or a Sugar Bowl in there out you go.I'm a patient man.

That is the problem with Tn football all the way down to the HS level. Let's give him another year, he is a local boy, it has worked in the past. Same crap every year, UT has some great talent but it is not being developed. CPF could beat up on most of the SEC in the 90's because of the talent level and the mediocracy of the other coaches.

Take a look back at UF and Spurrier CPF could once in a blue moon beat them, now the rest of the SEC has passed UT in coaching and we cannot compete.

Two more years and the program will be below Vandy.

If we don't get Peterson, it will be because UT landed one of the 20 people ahead of him on their list of desirable replacements. It won't be because he's a scientologist.

well at least you were objective in your 5 arguments...

There are better arguments for why he should stay, and hopefully you know that.. I'm still torn on where I stand, but I will not enter the phase of bashing him or ridiculing him. Name 1 Coach that has been at their school for this long that did not have a bumpy time at some point.. For us to think UT and Fulmer would be any different is a little naive... You think Penn State is happy they kept Joe Pa?

I'd love to hear these "better" aguments. So far all I've heard are variations of the ones listed in here.

As far as the "Christian" thing...yeah I heard the same thing when talking about keeping Buzz Peterson. I think I'll stick with the Jewish guy we got instead.

And I assume that if I were to mention Gerald Jones, Eric Berry, Jerod Mayo, etc that they had so much talent that Fulmer didn't need to develop them correct? Also, there are plenty of 2*'s out there that became pretty damn good at UT... Just remember that the "orange koolaid" can be drank by both sides - those that refuse to see the bad, and those that refuse to see the good....They are both there

I try to see both sides of this, but it is getting ridiculous now. Fulmer cannot beat the coaches of our biggest rivals, and we haven't won our conference in a decade. There are no other arguments to be made. Unless you can beat your rivals and win your conference every once in a while, you should not be coaching at UT. period.
