and he was a heck of a hitter at the start of the decade. Not sure I can put up on this list, but no one wanted to face him around 200-2005

The way he had them busy feet in the box annoyed me to death, but the guy could hit.

I saw him last night on MLB Network, he's pretty good, in studio. I don't know if I will watch Baseball Tonight anymore when MLB has Reyonlds, Larkin, and Casey.

Hornsby batted over .400 3 different times. That's impressive. I'd like to add Joe Jackson, but he didn't have the slugging %, nor the length of time.

Who was/is better? Mike Schmidt or Chipper? I'm voting Schmidt.

Good call on Foxx and Greenberg.

It would be interesting to see where Josh Gibson would fit had he been allowed to play in the majors.

I agree, MLB Network has put together a pretty good team. Hopefully Reynolds will make the most of his second chance. I always liked his take on baseball.

ive always though of griffey as one of the few pure athletes in the game who probably didnt do roids.. not sayin he is one of the greatest hitters, but a great pure athlete.. although these days its hard to believe that anyone wasnt using something

we're not talking about whether he's great or not. We're talking 5 best hitters of all time. Pete Rose clearly doesn't fit that category. Not in HR, Slugging %, BA, or anything other than the fact he got to play virtually injury free for a long time.
