Not only is Die Hard not a Christmas movie, it's not that great of a movie period.
You couldn't be more wrong on both points. Maybe you mean it's not about the spirit of Christmas, but it's most certainly a Christmas story. A dude fighting Hans Gruber so he can see his fam for the holidays qualifies it, in my mind.
FWIW, almost any list of top 10 action movies is going to include Die Hard.
How was it written about Christmas?
The whole theme around Home Alone was Christmas. Not so much with Die Hard. I'll never view it as a Christmas movie/done.
ok broAre you kidding me? It's the exact same. The family could be taking a summer vacation leaving the boy home. You lose essentially nothing from Home Alone if you take out Christmas.
The whole reason John McClain goes on a vacation from his NYC cop job to LA is because it's Christmas. The whole plot is written around that. It could have been another holiday, but it wasn't.
