The voting doesn't surprise me at this point, and the write up below the votes was actually very good. If somehow, someway Berry steals the show in the "supposed" beat down in the swamp.... Everything changes my friend!!!!!

Berry has no shot at being a finalist unless UT wins 10+ games. Also, he will have to play some offense. I don't think either will happen.

I don't think we have to have 10 wins. Hes on the preseason watch list after a 5-6 season

Berry doesn't have to play offense, he just needs to return punts and return 1-3 back.

If Eric Berry has two interceptions, one for a TD, and a sack against Tebow for a saety...and we win. Then he'll win the Heisman.

I agree IP. If Batman goes to the swamp and makes Superman look foolish then maybe there is a greater chance. Anybody but Tebow PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE!
I'd rather see anyone over Colt McCoy. He's a figment of the press' imagination.

Berry has to play offense or return punts to be considered. By the way, if you haven't seen Dez Bryant play, you're missing a one man show. Imagine if we would have hired 'ol Troop as the OC last season. Hmmmmmmmmmmm

"Each week, ESPN.com's panel of :crazy:experts:crazy:casts its votes for the top Heisman candidates"

For some reason I found this funny.

"There are two big snags with Berry's candidacy though: defensive guys, even ones who do dabble in other aspects of the game rarely get serious consideration. Two, an even bigger hindrance could be that in the BCS era, there's been an even greater premium put on being on a great team. And few experts are predicting UT does even as well as 8-4 this season. But maybe Berry steals the show when UT visits the Swamp and all eyes will be on that supposed rout."

He definitely has to have an excellent game against Tebow this year to have a legit shot, at least I think so.

Heisman is a joke anyway. It's NOT the best player....it's the most popular player on a team in the top 5-10!

Berry has no chance...not because he plays for UT, but the position he plays. If is was based on BEST PLAYER...yea...he has a real chance, but we all know the facts. Why did Archie Griffin win the second time with 4...that right..4 rushing touchdowns for the season????? POPULARITY!!!!!!!!!!!

I think if UT has a winning season, Berry breaks the int return yardage record and has a few memorable plays against rivals (especially Florida and Bama), he may get an invite.

I think hell would just about have to freeze over and UT win the national title (almost impossible for any rational fan to believe) for him to have a legit shot at winning it.

Although, if Tebow tanks this year or is injured (again extremely unlikely), Berry will have ESPN on his side because of the SEC TV contract.

That said, as a UT fan I have been taught that the Heisman means practically nothing, and I don't expect a UT player to win it in my lifetime considering the school's past with the award.

UT has NEVER had the BEST college football player for one year. (Manning was not the best in 97, Jim Brown was better than Majors in 56??? and still did not win...worst Heisman shaft in History....., Heath was not close to Charlie Ward in 94???) berry is the closest they have ever had. He still will not win because he is a safety. BUT...I would not trade him for anyone in the country!!!!!
