04 was their year to do great things.

They got beat by a freshman QB at home.

and, they just didn't strike fear like Bo, Wuerffel, Grossman, Derrick Thomas, EJ Junior (Maplewood product OBTW), David Palmer and Herschel.

Greene was a plodder and Pollack used the talent around him well.

Siran Stacy, We knocked out Maury Wills, Alabama's starting back. Stacy was a JC transfer and he had a career day against us.
Hershel when he knocked Bill Bates on his butt and just kept on going.
Randy White, in the 75 liberty bowl. Most of you wont remember this he was named the MVP although Maryland lost the game to us.

Three of my all time greatest performances against us.

No not the Dodger and I could be wrong on the name. I know I never saw the guy play again. Maybe someone with a better memory can help me out on this one.

Murray Hill. He was a much smaller back than Siran, and Stacy turned out to be the better back.

The Gator asked earlier about Palmer - 91 and 92 were his first 2 years and I really don't remember him being a huge threat against UT either year. He would have been mostly returning kicks and UT had a pretty good kicker in Andy Kelly those years. In the 93 game, there was of course the 2 point conversion and earlier in that drive he laid out for a pass that was way too long for him a managed to sang it on i think a 3rd down. The Vols had that 93 game in the bag, so i guess that would be enough for you guys to not look forward to seeing him get the ball.

Going the other way, 3 Vol players i was not look forward to playing against were:

Jason Whitten - big TE at a time when we had a small, not-so-great tackling secondary
Peyton - I was in the Bama student section in '95 - enough said.
Peerless Price - not so much before the game in '98, but if he doesn't take that kick 105 yards, i think we woulda had a chance, but you guys were tough that year.
