Doug McDermott leads ranking of nation's top 25 players - College Basketball - ESPN

22. Jordan McRae, Tennessee Volunteers

We take time out from mocking the entire non-Florida SEC to note that McRae is having one outstanding season. In conference play, Tennessee had easily the SEC's best offense outside of Gainesville, and McRae accounts for about as many shots in the Volunteers offense as Jabari Parker does in Durham.

McRae draws as many fouls and blocks the same percentage of shots as Jarnell Stokes, and he assists on as many baskets as Antonio Barton. He is the Vols' most accurate perimeter threat (38 percent), and he is Cuonzo Martin's best option at the line late in a tight game (80 percent). Doubt the bottom 13 teams in the SEC if you wish, but there's no question that McRae has been tremendous.

list is comical.

i saw mcrae and prather and laughed.

neither guy is the best player on their team and in tennessee's case, it isn't close. it may not be close in florida's case either.

give me wilbekin from florida and give me stokes from tennessee and i'll let you have mcrae and prather.

which is not to say that mcrae and prather are not good players. but, c'mon.

Not sure about Florida....that's your call....But I'd take McCrae over Stokes anyday.....he's a big body....needs to play football next yr.....his best chance at making a living in a professional game!

really?

every time i watch tennessee, stokes is unguardable.

the only thing that stops stokes are immediate, quality doubles of the post or tennessee on court brain farts when deciding to not get him the ball.

haven't seen anyone all year that can handle him one on one in the post.

y'all will think i am blowing smoke, but i think tennessee is a team that can make a surprise run if their head is screwed on straight. there aren't many teams that will put an individual player on the floor better than stokes.

McRae is having a bigger year than Stokes, but that's because he's used on more possessions. But I think I agree that Stokes is better than McRae in terms of value added to the team.

As for Florida... I would take Prather over Wilbekin in a heartbeat.

Hope your right.....I like by him, and he is strong, a tough matchup.....and had some great games...I just think McRae is a better all around player....depends on matchups I guess.....some games Stokes has seemed clumsy...butterfingers?

Stokes and butterfingers doesn't go together at all. He's the most sure handed big man in the SEC. Announcers talk about Stokes hands all the time.

My All-SEC team looks like this:

G - Releford
G - McRae
F- Prather
F- Randle
F - Stokes

Most underrated and underutilized: Brenton Williams at S Carolina

we'll have to agree to disagree there.

wilbekin is the straw that stirs the drink

I will take Stokes and give you three McCrae's. The only reason we are playing at such a high clip is because McCrae quit shooting every time he crossed half court and is actually passing it once in a while. The ball is now working back around to him and Barton instead of everyone forcing shots.

Riddle me this. Why is the offense now flowing through Stokes?

Stokes is most effective converting off of offensive rebounds.
