We are a .500 team with loses to UCLA, OLE MISS and Auburn. You guys are killing me with this we're atop 25 going to the peach bowl crap. we are 5-5
More likely than not, the Vols will be 7-5. Vandy is not what they were in 2005 and KY is still KY. Barring Auburn shocking the world in the Iron Bowl, there will only be two teams with better records than UTK that are not in a BCS bowl (LSU and Ole Miss) one of which will be in the Capital One and the other of which will most likely be in the Cotton Bowl. Arky, Aubie, UGA, and UTK will probably all finish 7-5. I'd say that USC is 50/50 to beat Clemson, at best. Assume that the Outback takes Auburn and I'd say that UTK has a very good chance to be invited to the Peach/Chick-fil-A.

edit to add: I think that all that Orange in Oxford last night will help the Vols mightily with selection committees asssuming that they get to 7-5. Not many 5-5 teams travel that well.

Like most, I believe that our chance of a top-25 finish are something less than zero, even if we win out. But does it even matter. It is not about this year. Kiffin's knack for recruiting makes our record largely irrelevant. He signed the best running back of last year's class without a single win as a college head coach. Now he has a year of experience under his belt and has proven that he can coach. Many recruits like his verbal sparing with Spurrier, Meyer and Saban. It gives them confidence that since he has shown no fear of them that he will one day soon win a national title as these coaches have done
