The thread is titled "Top 20 coaches of all time"
1979 is "prehistory" and 1981 is "modern"?
Brady wouldn't have the same stats if he played in the era of bump and run coverage. Brady wouldn't have finished a single game if he had to absorb the hits QB's like Bradshaw did instead of being explicitly coddled by the NFL rules of today.
Look, I'm an old guy. I saw all four of the original Steelers' Super Bowl wins live. But you're crazy if you don't think that the job Chuck Noll did was radically smaller than what we would recognize as "pro football coaching" now. I'm willing to consider Walsh a modern coach because, after all, he did more than anybody else to invent modern coaching to begin with. Chuck Noll gave rah-rah speeches and let his QB call his own plays. As I said -- prehistory.
"Brady wouldn't have finished a single game" is just nonsense. He's bigger than Bradshaw was.

Yeah, Brady is such a tough guy he kicks defenders in the nads as he slides to avoid a hit. "Not finishing a game" was hyperbole to think Brady is tough enough to survive when QBs were routinely hit in the head with forearms is nonsense.
I don't buy the NFL changed as radically as you claim from 1979 to 1981.
As for Noll just giving rah rah speeches, that comment is so far beyond nonsense it's astonishing. Read any history of the Steelers and it's blatantly obvious Chuck Noll low key and the farthest thing from a rah rah coach. You may have watched 4 Super Bowls but that comment shows your true knowledge of Noll. By the way, I watched all 4 of those SB games too, one of them in person.
Shula over Walsh??????
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Did people just forget Bill Walsh won four SB's in eight years and changed football forever or something?
