If you live in the Knoxville area like I do, and you happen to run into one of those casual UT football fans, as we all do, please show them this thread, so they will quit talking about how upset they are because their best friends son had to settle for Tusculum or Maryville College because Tennessee never gives the local kids a chance. Then they will say "Thanks! I had no idea!", or something along those lines, and maybe they will feel some sort of gratitude for the weight you have just lifted off of their shoulders, and will be compelled to buy you dinner or something. The end.

Last year was much different. Three Tennesseans in the first round. Know the facts. It is different from year to year. Tennessee football and the talent that comes out of it is getting better each year with three 5-star recruits last year as well.
I like to see kids with tristar state connections playing for Tennessee. If they don't deserve a scholly to play in Neyland I hope they don't get one, but I hope they get just as fair of a chance to wear the O&W as some A-hole from Texas, Georgia etc..
I'm glad the new coaching staff agrees with me and they are giving a full effort to lock down the state like Fulmer did in the 90's early 2000's.

With the talent level in GA what it is, they should have won 3 out of the last 4 titles instead of the red turd. They WAY under achieve in BB too.

In the same article they had the top 3 per capita and it was 1) SC 2) LA 3) GA...if CA had the same per capita rate as SC they would have had 105 people picked.

Just because a kid is from GA does not mean he will go to UGA. Many kids move into the state at a young age or have parents who moved here before they were born. Some of them are raised pulling for team their parents pull for.

I agree and even if their families are from GA there are lots of fans of different teams here. I grew up in Carrollton and Auburn was always the big team. Lots of Auburn fans in West GA.

I think this is pretty indicative of the general results over the last 20 years. Occasionally the state of Tennessee has more than their fair share of talent but that is the exception.

UGA has absolutely no excuses for not locking down their state and winning the NC. The same could be said about Ohio State and LSU. Florida has UF, FSU, Miami and the newcomers fighting over their lot (not to mention the out-of-staters). California had USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal, etc. Texas has UTjr., A&M, TTU, TCU, Baylor, etc. Alabama has Bama and Auburn. Etc.

UT has it tough because Memphis is closer to 7 other SEC schools than UT and now Vandy is more of a player for middle Tennessee (until Butch came along that is!). That's pretty much why we have the largest recruiting budget in the country.

One of UGA's issues is that we're surrounded by good football programs. And today's player is not loyal to his home state. And many times these players want to get away from home, so to speak. But if you look at UGA over the past 10 years, our overall record has been pretty solid. Kinda amusing to me when people pull the "underachieve" card. Especially when they're fans of teams who haven't done well at all over the past decade. Reeks of "butt hurt" to me.

Well then you want have to worry about "reeking" when a Gator tells you that you underachieve consistently. You might have had a NC last year if your coach was as smart as your QB. Of course, your QB was one of those players who wasn't loyal to his home state--one of the ones you were whining about.

Wow. I'm a little late on the reply here and I realize you probably won't see this but, thanks for the history lesson. I think I know all about the talent this state produces and has produced over the years, but it's pretty clear from my post that I am talking about the "casual fan" which is exactly what I said. I don't think that most of us on this board fall into that category. Most years don't produce 3 first rounders from in state, and this years class is an exception to what we normally expect in-state. It will always fluctuate, but we will probably never see the consistency of the states in the top ten listed here. I love giving the deserving kids a chance, and that's not at all what I was talking about.
