I have seen more freshly tatooed forearms in the past year bearing some type of homage to bama than I have ever seen before. Those guys will be wearing long sleeves for years once Saban has his fill of them. It's a little harder to hide the ink than it is those annoying car flags that seem to fly year round. Who even does that?

I wonder who'd top the list if they made one regarding the largest bandwaggon sports franchise overrall, college and pro. cough cough lakers cough cough.

Cowboys and Celtics too. Now that the Celtics are good again you have all these guys coming out of the woodworks who claimed to have stood beside them since the days of Havelicek.

I think Georgia is interesting to look at as to whether or not they are a "fair weather" fan base. You have tons of Georgia natives who would stick by them no matter what but you also have a huge population in Atlanta that will only come on-board when they are having success. Just an observation. Miami would be number 1 on my "fair weather" list. Its rare that you run into a passionate Miami fan. Just a bunch of testosterone hounds who love to wear Miami gear when the team is good.

UT is most definitely a fair-weather fanbase in basketball, but there's no case for football.

If football wen through the crap known as the Wade Houston years and took years to find the right coach, then yes you could make the case. Not to mention the years of having an AD who didn't give a crap at all about men's basketball.

I have a feeling we're about to find out what the football version of the Houston era looks like.

Tennessee has a bandwagon fanbase? I could see it. I mean, I'm only here because of my interest in Derek Dooley.

yanks or cowboys

Yankees would be second on my list, and i've seen far more steelers bandwaggoners than i have cowboys recently, hmmm....wonder why? And i've still seen FAR more "Laker fans" come out of the woodwork over the last few years than any other sports organization in america. Yes, even including the Yankees, cowboys, or steelers, go ahead and add colts to that list as well.

I don't ever see hardly any yankee fans here in west tn. in fact, most people over here that i've met hate them with a seething passion. But i do however, see meet more than enough laker fans to go around, and we sure as hell aren't anywhere near Los Angeles. From what i've seen and who i've met, it's the Lakers, without a doubt.

You should venture out a little bit further. :) The Yankees have the largest bandwagon fan base, NATIONWIDE.

My dad is a Yankees fan, I've been a Yankees fan as long as I can remember...I've only ever seen one game in person at the old Yankees Stadium. I hope I can see a game in the new one sometime soon...Point being...I don't consider myself a bandwagoner.

If you don't fit the definition, then you're not. It's up to you. I'm sure you've met plenty of people that called themselves fans but couldn't name anyone on the roster other than Jeter and A-Roid.

It was difficult for me to tolerate all of the "fair weather" UT fans in '99. If you didn't suffer through Bill Battle and the 80's(-'85 of course), you shouldn't have been allowed to wear a NC t-shirt. If you weren't born yet, you get a pass.:)

Top 10 from the link. They say it's because we haven't filled our stadium the last 2 years.

1. U Southern California
2. Notre Dame
3. Miami
4. Florida
5. North Carolina
6. Memphis
7. Tennessee
8. Georgia Tech
9. Rutgers
10. Virginia

This is football? Top 4, I have no problem with.

North Carolina? Basketball, yes. But football? No. Hell, they can't fill their stadium. Noone cares about football there.

Memphis? Same thing.

Tennessee? How stupid can it get? We've been filling our stadium for decades, when it has consistently been one of the largest in the country. We've been there through good times and bad times.

Georgia Tech? I don't really get that, either.

Rutgers? Perhaps, but I don't spend a lot of time keeping up with them.

Where is Florida State? Michigan? Ohio State. Texas. Alabama. Nebraska. Oklahoma.
