We have been beat by 5 teams that all were in the top 10 at one point in the season including 1,2 and 4, 5....I don't understand what we were expecting but if he wins out and a bowl 8 - 5 is exactly what this fanbase asked for!!

Not to mention we have been competitive in all but 1 of our losses!!

Guess what, our schedule is going to be like that every year. Losing by less isn't progress at Tennessee.

Rocky Top, I respect your point but you have to agree. At some point in 3 years don't you have to upset at least 1-2 of those teams? You mentioned we have been competitive, if we are that close somehow you have to find a way to win at least 1.

No sir, we have been competitive in one of these losses. That was South Carolina. The rest of our losses were by 10 or more points. Now if you call not being blown out, competitive, then we obviously have a very different definition of competitive. Now what was competitive was our win over the powerhouse of Troy and our loss to Kentucky last season. Also, no real chance if him winning out. So, our fan base expects to beat Kentucky, to win at least one game against a ranked opponent every three years. We expect not to give up 750 yards to Troy. In short, we expect Tennessee to be Tennessee and are not accepting of this mediocre performance that you are obviously content with.

I do to a certain extent when holding a coach accountable...thought SC was the game to do that but Bray fumbled!!

I saw Derek Dooley coach his QB from being to loose with the ball to making really good decisions in about 6 days time after the Georgia game!!

I also believe we haven't caught a break all year....I think once that monkey is lifted off his back DD will coach with confidence and the we will make our own breaks and even get some handed to us!!

4 wins in the SEC in 3 years. If they win the last 3 this year that is 7, out of 24 in the SEC. No wins over any Top 25 or over any good SEC teams. A bad offense last year. A horrible defense this year. Fruit basket turnover with assistant coaches. A terrible recruiting class shaping up for this year.

We are not Vandy or Kentucky. Get a grip about your sickening attachment to Dools and move on.

Is that going to be the excuse every year cause every year our schedule is like that. You cant become competitive in games and for top recruits if you don't win those games. After three years of the same guys playing for three years you have to be able to win at least one of those games. I mean we have way more experience than Florida. Also with player like hunter and possibly a couple guys off of the O-line next year will be more of the same excuses.

We lost to uga by 7.

Speaking of which, I get what everyone is saying about needing to win one. If we get back almost all of our team, we have a great shot at beating USC and uga in Neyland next year. We played them both tough on the road this year, could have won uga and nearly did beat USCe. Murray is likely gone next year and Bray is back.

I don't see any reason we can't beat both of them next year, even with Dooley back, provided we have a DC that at least has a pulse. And/or a new coach could have a great shot also, provided they keep a number of the current staff for continuity.

Patience...the wins are coming. No one is going to claim a moral victory, but if you go from getting blown out to a close loss, you are at least getting closer. Just have to take that next step!

I wouldn't have even considered the South Carolina game as competitive. If Lattimore didn't injure his leg chances are South Carolina would have given UT a worse loss.

LMLN!! Tennessee is closer to being Tennessee than 4 years ago!! I get so tired of this narcissitic fanbase that thinks that we should win a SEC championship or NC every year!! DD inherited a pile sh*t and lost 17 scholarship players after Kiffin left so in reality this should be year 2 for Dooley!!

If Justin Wilcox had still been the DC, we would have won a couple of those games. I know that's water under the bridge, but that just shows what a poor choice it was by someone that chose to hire Sunseri. Until UT wins some of those games against Fla., Georgia, SC, Bama, and other top teams in the league, they will not be able to get the top recruits that we need to be succesful. The Vols stand at no. 9 in the league at this point, and yes I know it is a while until NSD, but the standings will probably look the same then also. Unless you are a genius of a coach, you aren't going to win on the field if you can't win in recruiting, and I don't believe we have that kind of coaching staff.

OK, I see what you’re saying, but can we agree on a few things?

First, Tennessee lost one that they should not have lost last year against Kentucky, and that the team quit on him that game?

Had a great start against Florida this year, but the team quit on him again after the missed extra point in the 3rd quarter?

The Troy game should never ever have been a close game?

I wanted Dooley to succeed, but the truth is that a head coach cannot lose the team and have them quit on him ever. If you can’t motivate them to run through a wall for you, then you have failed. At least as far as being a head football coach and I mean that for any level of football.

Now, I will also say that Dooley should be given another year, unless a big hire can be made as I don’t see how taking another chance with an unknown would benefit the program at this time. I will also include Sal in that statement as I hate to give up on someone after just one year as I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and think that the players have just not learned all of the ins and outs of the 3-4 and that it is still an ongoing learning process.

It’s about pride and teamwork, and that has been what’s lacking at times over the last couple of years. It all starts at the head coach level and works its way down.

I am not sure what is worse? To lose to those 5 teams by 15 or more points and show that we can't compete with them OR to barely lose to them, knowing that one bad play likely caused our defeat.

One defensive stop against Florida, and we win.
Tiny holds his block and Bray competes his pass, and we beat USC. One more completion against MSU and we win. One completion against UGA and we win.

Every season that Dooley has been here, we have had the slimest margin between wins and losses. 2010, the LSU & UNC games. 2011, the UGA game that Bray was injured in. The USC that Worley played. The KY game, that Neal fumbled the snap on while on the 2 yard line. This season, the UGA game, the USC game, the Florida game & the MSU game.

Amen brother!!!!!! You hit every point dead on if he wins out he will be 0.291 against SEC teams to give you guys some perspective and doubt we win out. I believe Mizzou and Vandy are going to be tough.

This crap again?

We play in the SEC. The SEC is the best conference and consistently has 3 - 4 teams in the top ten.

At the end of the day Tennessee has always won in the SEC. If Doofus can't get it done, we need a coach that can.

From my perspective Doofus has had 3 failing years and needs to go.

Next year Tennessee will play 5 teams that will be ranked and we still don't know what Kentucky, Auburn, and Missouri will look like.

I dont put much into ranking until the end of the year. Jusr because someone was ranked in the top 10 doesnt mean they are worth a crap. I mean Arkansas was ranked at one point this year.

What you have to understand is that 0-5 in the SEC for 3 years in a row is not going to get it done. 2-30 vs teams with winning records is not going to get it done. Come back to this after the Missouri and Vandy game and see if your opinion changes any.

My 2 cents is that they do not look like a good well coached football team overall. Offense ok but does not have a good leader ( or the whole team for that matter ) special teams and defense are a wreck. CP is good but thats one guy and hes a JUCO we got lucky with not someone we coached up.

unless you people stay off these boards and quit bashing the coaches, team and recruits, none of the big name recruits are going to come here anyway....STFU...it's not the university or coaches running these recruits off...IT'S THE FANS they read these boards....

Believe me man it's not the fans I have heard it from a few of the recruits here in Durham, NC I try to pitch TN to them all the time. Believe me it's not the fans. A lot of these guys don't respect the coaching staff. How can you blame fans for be made at Dooley's record get out of here. Dooley is 0.291 against SEC talent how can anyone blame you for being mad at that. :eek:lol:

No they don't.. All they care about is who the coach is, and where they think the program is headed. Right now i don't see that attracting a bunch of elite recruits...

you had NOTHING when he got here....either give him time or go back 3-4 years and in 3 years from now you can be looking for another coach....you can't just beat top SEC teams over night..

You are so right!!! And even with the 17 scholarships gone, DD he did a pretty good job of recruiting. Don't believe jg could have done any better and prob would have walked out on us the first NFL offer he got and we would be right back where kif left us. This is year 2, why cant people see this?
