Too much ice

I think it was this thread where someone asked for examples of the inhumane treatment of immigrants under ICE's care.

We went from .5 deaths per month, up to 2 deaths per month under Trump. 15 have died so far this year without counting the shooting victim.

The total immigrant population being detained is hovering around 2x the population before Trump. So a 4x increase in deaths is concerning.

Did this article list CoD, or did I miss it?

The writer stated "horrendous conditions" exist within these holding facilities, yet no pictures, unless I missed them.

Blame my lack of trust of media outlets. All of them.

Sorry for this AI generated explanation:
year include:

External attack: On September 24, 2025, a gunman opened fire on an ICE facility in Dallas, killing one detainee before taking his own life.

Suicide: On June 7, 2025, a Mexican national named Jesus Molina-Veya died in an apparent suicide at the Stewart Detention Center in Georgia. Advocacy groups have long attributed suicides to the failure of ICE facilities to provide adequate mental health care.

Medical negligence:
Abscess and related complications: On September 21, 2025, Ismael Ayala-Uribe, a former DACA recipient, died after being hospitalized for an abscess on his buttock. His death is under investigation, with advocates pointing to documented issues of inadequate medical treatment and care at the Adelanto facility where he was held.
Heart issues: In June 2025, 75-year-old Cuban national Isidro Perez died from a heart attack in a Miami ICE facility. He was held despite having lived in the U.S. for decades.
Death in transit: In May 2025, Abelardo Avelleneda-Delgado, a 68-year-old Mexican national, died while being transported between two ICE facilities in Georgia. He was reportedly found unresponsive during the transfer.

Other medical complications: Other deaths have been attributed to various medical conditions, including liver failure, though families have sometimes questioned the official cause.

Context on overall conditions:

Overcrowding and poor care: A July 2025 report indicated that ICE facilities were operating at 140% capacity, and experts cited overcrowding, underfunded medical services, and poor oversight as factors fueling the rising death toll.

Calls for accountability: In September 2025, U.S. senators requested answers from DHS about the deaths and criticized ICE for delayed reporting.

History of preventable deaths: A 2024 report by the ACLU and Physicians for Human Rights, covering deaths from 2017 to 2021, found that 95% of those fatalities were potentially preventable with adequate medical care.

didn't see any pictures in the article or the links.

but the link "conditions" talks about how the use of solitary confinement has gone up 6.5x under Trump 2.0 compared to previous admins, including Trump 1.0. that data was supplied by ICE itself.

they also note in several of their links that there is no public access, and even lawyers have difficult getting access to their clients.

I trust the government even less than I trust the media.

That AI article was for 2025. My curiosity made me Google 21-23 and here it is:

A 2024 study published in the National Institutes of Health's PubMed noted 12 reported deaths in ICE custody between fiscal years 2021 and 2023, while noting that the total number of deaths related to ICE detention is underestimated. This number excludes individuals released from custody shortly before death and does not account for potential underreporting.
Causes of death
  • Failure of medical care: The most significant contributing factor is the persistent failure to provide adequate medical care. Reports have identified issues including:
    • Inadequate diagnoses and treatment: Medical staff frequently made incorrect or incomplete diagnoses and provided substandard or delayed treatment. In one case, a detainee with a gastrointestinal issue lost 20 pounds but was never seen by a physician.
    • Improper medication management: Medication was not properly managed, and some detainees received incorrect prescriptions. In one example, a detainee with cirrhosis was prescribed a contraindicated pain medication, possibly contributing to his death.
  • Mental health care failures and suicide: Systemic mental health care failures have led to repeated suicides in detention centers.
    • Inadequate care and staff: Facilities have failed to provide adequate mental health care, ensure sufficient and qualified staff, or manage psychiatric medication properly.
    • Solitary confinement: ICE's increased use of solitary confinement, which can be psychologically and physically devastating, has been linked to a surge in suicide attempts.
  • Lack of emergency care: Failures in emergency response and equipment have also proved fatal.
    • Delayed response: Facilities have had delayed emergency response times, including delays in calling ambulances and administering CPR.
    • Faulty equipment and protocol: In some cases, emergency equipment malfunctioned or staff did not follow proper procedure.
  • COVID-19 mismanagement: During the pandemic, ICE failed to take basic precautions, including providing masks and soap.
    • Facility transfers: In 2021, ICE transferred people from facilities with outbreaks, contributing to the spread of the virus.
    • Delayed releases: Some medically vulnerable individuals were not released in a timely manner and later died of the virus.
  • Staffing and oversight problems: These systemic issues are worsened by staffing shortages, insufficient training, and a lack of accountability.
    • Underqualified staff: Facilities rely on low-level providers, and detainees often do not receive care from doctors.
    • Inadequate supervision: Some reviews found that clinical supervision was inadequate, leading to improper care.
    • Record falsification: In some cases, staff have been caught falsifying medical records or logs to cover up misconduct.

That’s not entirely accurate bc the article stated that Biden averaged 1 death per month when he actually started enforcing immigration policies.

My next-door neighbor has an immigrant putting shingles on his roof in 104-degree temperatures in September. Good luck getting a white guy to show up for this job (even for more $).

Please save us from these horrors, ICE, and do it with masks on. Be sure to treat him like cattle for 3 months while you detain him, and make him eat out of a bowl on the floor like a dog. Don't let anybody know where he is. Lose his records. How dare he build America.

Literally hailing

He's just doing the job no American would do for 300k a year ...

From the article:

Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts has been arrested by U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement and held at the Pottawattamie County Jail, according to federal and local officials.

Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security, confirmed Roberts' detention and said a court had issued a "final order of removal" for Roberts' deportation in May 2024.

She said Roberts abandoned his car and fled from police on Friday, and he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, a large amount of cash and a hunting knife.

I have seen plenty of white guys on top of roofs working in the middle of the summer. I have even done it myself.

Buddy, you're supposed to have a mask on and do this where there's no cameras.

"Unacceptable": ICE officer relieved of duties after videos show him shoving woman to the ground - CBS News "Unacceptable": ICE officer relieved of duties after videos show him shoving woman to the ground
Kind of puts holes in the boat you're rowing though doesn't it?

He's in a secure facility, wearing no mask. Used excessive force and was relieved of duty for unacceptable behavior.

I thought they endorsed and supported this behavior?
