Too much ice

Same could be said that Obama gets a pass on criticism
during his tenure as President because of his race.

Many of the things the left now “opposes” were items Obama ran on and did in regards to illegals.
Obama did fine. He generally kept the country on target and enacted the legislation it looked like the country needed. Anything he might've messed up could've been fixed. The things trump is doing wont be fixable in the next election cycle -- that's the difference. Trumps going to destroy the people that voted for him just as much as the rest of us.

I felt just the opposite. He did more than any previous president to close the gap......which completely pissed off the people who had a vested interest in seeing the gap remain as wide as possible.

I've always compared it to the whole segregation vs integration period.
except you realize one of Obama era approach's to "fixing" the race problem was re-segregation right? safe spaces and no white zones aren't integration.

I am all for self selected segregation, but its impossible to pair that with healing and bringing people together. at least if its a long term strategy.

Because the people aligned with your thinking will not give access to prisoners that are illegal

That would mean ICE only needs to be hanging out at the courthouse and police stations, right?

Militarizing the streets has nothing to do with that. That part is all about punishing the opposition. None of this is about focusing on criminals. I understand this. That's why it appears to you that I'm dense about "why sanctuary cities."

Want to find where the most criminals are on the streets? Go to bigger cities with bigger immigrant populations than Minneapolis and Portland.

That's incorrect. That's like saying that all you have to do is hang out on the shore to catch a specific fish after someone else caught and released.

You do realize that they release them back into the community, right?

That not accurate, we are still fixing things he messed up.

Obama divided a nation based on race politics and Obamacare.

Better question: If they are funding organized gatherings that turn violent, are they legally guilty of the violence?

Just like the police chief would only be guilty if he told his men to start fights with protesters, these hypothetical organizations should only be found legally guilty if they told the protesters to start fights.

Obama was simply trying to find a balance.

A school shouldn't exclude females; but a school should be able to have organizations that are for females.

A school should not exclude Chinese students; but a school should be able to provide an organization for Chinese students.

A school shouldn't exclude Christians, but a school should be able to offer organizations for Christians.

You get the picture.

Integration in no way means that EVERYTHING is integrated at all times......that's absurd.
Obama was all about getting past the absurdities and moving toward a compromised rational balance.

And that is what this country is currently in desperate need of.

You get advice from AI.
That’s sad.

I actually did the math before I got backup from AI.

I read several books about this (cognitive bias) but the best one was by the guy who won the Nobel prize in Economics. This is essentially anchoring bias + availability heuristic at play. The tendency is to latch onto one piece of key information and then overvalue it. We all do this. For example, he hears sanctuary city and his brain goes haywire and he assumes their immigrant population must be out of control moreso than cities with other characteristics that very likely outweigh that, but he's so attached to this one component.

I still remember the example from the book. They asked if a guy is good at staying organized, doesn't love manual labor, etc. is he more likely to be a librarian or a farmer. And the answer is farmer because regardless of skill set, men almost never become librarians. But your brain does too much work with what his preference/skills are and ignores a statistical reality that is apparent to everyone.
