Certainly cannot blame him. I think he could be very successful in MLB.

Having said that . . . MLB (like all moves to the pro level) is a different animal. Ask Saban and Spurrier (NFL is different I know - but college to pro is no sure thing).

The Giants are a great organization which plays in his favor.

Giants won’t spend the money the Dodgers do or even the Padres and they sure don’t have the farm system that the Dodgers have. His swagger doesn’t work in the majors either, there’s a reason most managers are pretty much thumbs on the bench while his players are usually making more than the manager is. I wish him luck, but it’s going to be a hit to his system to have the college baseball world by the balls and go in and suck in the majors and limp back to the college ranks afterwards. The sad part is that Tn baseball isn’t a draw for most kids aside from him. He was the program. We have no pedigree of success in baseball. What we do have is a fanbase used to winning and a boss for an AD. And a really good assistant coach if he doesn’t jump with Tony to the bigs. This is bad for our baseball program. Happy for TV though. I say that with gritted teeth. 😣😢

*it's never been done in baseball. Also, Rhule, Chip Kelly, Petrino, etc.

Maybe now the athletic dept will call me back about my multiple season ticket inquiries. 🤣

Seriously, I don’t want TV to leave, I appreciate what he has done, but what we have now is one of the Top 8 current programs in college baseball.

We would miss Coach V, but his growing frustration last year with spoiled fans was apparent, and if he has a damaged relationship with the AD that can’t be mended it would be best for all involved that he move on.

Whoever follows him would be stepping into an amazing opportunity. Hopefully that Coach can become the Legend and we will fondly remember Coach V as the one who started it all when we dedicate the next coach’s statue.

This just sucks that there is a “delay” in the decision. Just rip the band aid off with the first breaking news and don’t make us suffer twice while he mulls it over and then announce again he’s taking the job.

I agree. Make the decision. This bit about working it out with DW, Im not buying it. I think a deal is done with the Giants. Im very disappointed at all sides involved on how this has come about. College athletics, Im telling you, is done. NIL has ruined it. It will always be from here on out, who has the money.
