Tony Robinson appreciation thread

Sorry to pick but Larry Lacewell was not our defensive coordinator it was Ken Donahue. Lacewell coached here in 90-91 before going to the Cowboys. Also it wasn't raining during the game with Ga. Tech it was just Dickey's first game starting after T. Rob's injury and we had a very conservative game plan. Tech's Ted Roof had an incredible 25 tackles in the game. Carlos Reveiz hit field goals from 55 and 51 (with 14 seconds left) to make it a 6-6 tie.

I had a brain fart regarding Larry Lacewell as the DC. Please forgive.

The Ga Tech Game still seems like it was raining...but it could have been easily another Ga Tech Game. It wasn't raining as I went to the archive for the replay. LOL..Just trying to figure out which game it was..

Thanks for the correction...

I'm watching Auburn at Tennessee from 1985 over on VolsVideos.com and Tony was before my time, but he looks like he was a great QB. I know I could go on Wikipedia and get all the info I would ever need to know about the guy, but I would rather hear from Vol fans that seen him play. What happened that kept him from going to the NFL?

Feel free to elaborate on all things Tony Robinson.

Tony was that guy with all the talent.........But got injured an depressed and snorted the talent right up his nose! Man was he awesome on the field! SAD SO SAD!

Troll thread.

Sometimes you guys are so gullible.

But it looks like the OP was successful, he got all you guys to rehash every single felon we've ever had in the program.

Troll, I salute you! Well played...

I didn't understand why he didn't make the skins team. Maybe the history of drug use, was the reason they cut him, but it seemed if someone had given him an opportunity he could have played in the NFL.

The other thing with him, he was one of the skinniest QB's I can remember. Maybe thought he would get hurt.

They just didn't have the roster room when the strike ended. I think if he had've kept his nose clean he was due a big bonus that year.

TR was a great player.if he hadn't got hurt that year,we would have won a NC.his story is truly a sad one.

Any idea whatever happened to Fred? Wonder if he returned to Columbia. He is another one that I lost out on...

I was playing rec league basketball back in 1996 and Fred was playing on the other team...NOT FAIR!

Didn't stop me from trash talking, though!

I have always been amazed how quickly some love to judge another's failures and call them an embarassment to (whatever they deem they are protecting) when we are all cut from the same cloth.... No...I do not do nor have I ever had a drug problem, and I certainly don't even know anyone who has ever commited a murder, however I have been one of the lucky ones, my sins and failures were never made public... I hope your never are as well. as for Tony R.... he had the best arm I ever saw on a football field and I enjoyed watching him play. I guess I thought that was the discussion here on this Sports Board

The debate between these two is clearly an issue of generation gap. VolnMiami is obviously older while Lollypop is younger. The older generation grew up with the notion of personal accountability. Today's generation doesn't care about personal accountability. Hence we have the Welfare State we have today with leeches sucking off the hard work of those that feel they should work and earn their way in life rather than be handed it. You see it everywhere today. It's what makes this younger generation "special".
