I could see it being Auburn, that was really the only "wacky" home series we played this year aside from the A&M ordeal with the day/night double header

I was thinking the aTm series after the no-hitter when we dropped the doubleheader when I first heard him say it, but that is probably more of hindsight talking. Vitello made it sound like he was thinking it in real time and I'm not sure aTm would have caused him an immediate sense of panic given how well we had played to that point and how talented they really were and them getting healthy at the right time.

The Kentucky series two weeks later could fit the bill, though. Second straight home series loss, and to a team that wasn't good and we weren't particularly competitive on Sat or Sun.

My guess is the series with ATM. We no hit them in the first game and then lost the next two and that started the downward spiral

I picked the second game of the Kentucky series as the perfect chance to buy tickets to celebrate my dad's and brother's birthdays. Terrible choice. I think it's pretty easily near the top of the list as the most frustrating Tennessee sporting event I've ever attended. 11 stolen bases, errors, no home runs, almost zero offense ... just super boring and frustrating all at once. Oh, and of course our player got hit in the face with the foul ball.

It was a tough watch.

What you’re leaving out is that 2nd baseman also started every game the previous year at SS and helped lead the team to a NC. That player also hit the ball well, was a great teammate, and had earned the benefit of the doubt from the coaching staff.

I will say this. I love watching Tennessee Baseball. I love Coach TV. But this team didn’t have that same fire outside of a few individuals. It was like the chemistry was off. I am looking forward to next year.

Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to pinpoint which particular series he may be referencing in that quote. There were a couple of SEC series on the back end where we tried to match another team's bravado, but just couldn't close out the series.

I was wondering where the leaders were to put a stop to the manhandling and pitching woes. To go from a no-hitter run-rule win on a Friday night to being slobberknockered in a double header on Saturday is uber rare.

CTV said Matthew Dallas didn’t get along with his teammates as the reason for his leaving, and said he has big expectations for Kuhns and Abernathy next year. That was one of the big-picture things that really stood out to me; it seemed like the negative aspects of our fans really got to the players and affected our play. He did not seem very happy about how the fanbase negatively affected some of our guys.

He also seems very motivated to go do work in the portal and correct mistakes from this year.

Part of me salivates at the thought of Doyle on that 2024 team, but there's also the chance that if Doyle was here we wouldn't have gotten that all-time Zander performance in the NCAA tournament/Omaha

Hopefully, the negative fans will at some point get some perspective as to what he has accomplished/the players have done.

The LOM will never change, unfortunately. Whenever an older member of the LOM dies off, their children rise up to take their place... kind of like a hydra

The LOM will never change, unfortunately. Whenever an older member of the LOM dies off, their children rise up to take their place... kind of like a hydra

It’s mainly the blue hairs and socialites behind home plate that drive me nuts. And the porch needs to get LIT again

Tony's really the first coach to have to deal with that crap after winning a National championship since Fulmer, only difference is Phil didn't have the social media aspect to worry about

I took it as since they were after Luke Holman, they didn’t want to scare Matthew Dallas off by going after Doyle as well. I wouldn’t trade Zander Sechrist for any of them.
