Tony Elliot Reaching Out To Assistant Coaches Should He Become Tennessee HC

Bring him and bring a predominantly black coaching staff.
I agree. This will help mitigate some of the heat we might be facing with the NCAA.......minority hires will show those idiots that our hearts are in the right place and could bring in some high quality position coaches and recruiters for TN. The next 3 years will be watershed years for the Vols in the way we are perceived by student-athletes, as we come out of NCAA sanctions.....Elliott and staff would bolster that perception.

He won't hire who is expected and everything written says he keeps everything quiet until he is ready. All the guesses are just that right now.

I'm actually happy to see an AD keep it locked up without the leaks. He is not flying to a coach. They meet at neutral locations like Atlanta

I don't care if they are PURPLE as long as they can coach, communicate and produce positive results, that is the best criteria we can hope for.

Only reason I might put some credence in this report is that the coaches who might be possibilities for a UT staff have Tennessee ties already (Dan Brooks, Marion Hobby, etc.)
Hobby maybe. Brooks stays retired imo.

UT is down. No question about it. But if (Big if) they are able to get us out of this mess, this is still the type of place you retire at. I still think this is the type of program that you can win a championship at, even though the program is on the ventilator and has been forever. If we get up and rolling again, we can easily be every bit the program that Georgia has been the past few years. And dare I say, even Clemson currently. We have that type of potential, which is what makes this 15 year mess so frustrating and why all of the fans are so mental sometimes.
I’m 25, so I’ve never seen us be good. Closest thing was in 2016. The potential is there, but we have too many people trying to make their own input on hires and whatnot to truly be good again. Until that happens, I expect the curse to continue.

I'm just taking every leak of any coach looking at TN is just putting their name out there because they may want a raise. I'll believe the hire when it says done deal.

Gruden was supposedly doing the same thing last time around.

I for one wouldn't be disappointed in an Elliot hire, considering the sanctions. It's rapidly beginning to look like a best case scenario.

I'm ok with Elliot. If we're hiring a coordinator, he's at the very top of my list. Though I wish we would hire someone with HC experience, I do realize this is not destination school at the moment with the sanctions forthcoming. Too bad Malzahn is collecting 20 million, cause he was my ideal coach.

What a touching story.

Thank you for sharing. This really makes me want to see him succeed no matter where he goes or stays. If he ends up here, I'll be fully supportive and give him time. He has surely learned from the best. It takes heart and a love of the players and love of the game. He seems to embody those things, and I'm sure some players will come here just to play for him.

I’d take Elliott and the hope he may be very good over some of the other names and their track records showing they probably won’t work out

I prefer content of character over color of skin. Just sayin'
I don't care if the coach is blue, green or yellow and he brings midgets from the Wizard of Oz with him.
Just want a coach that has already coached at P5 or NFL level. Period.

No one knows anything. Until Danny White makes a statement or you see “BREAKING“ from a credible source then dont believe ish.

I think he’s under qualified if we hire him it’s obvious we struck out on a few. But he seems like a genuine decent human being. Also seems to know what kind of offense needs to be implemented. Fulmer and Pruitt wanted to play old style football it seemed to me and I just didn’t see that working.
