Tony Basillio confirmed - Kevin Ware won't be released

You sign with the school, not the coach.

There is now way that Bruce Pearl could guarantee that he would be at UT the entire time that a recruit would be at UT.

Wow this thread really took off last night. Just woke up and saw this. Haha

I guess you don't remember Tyler Smith! You never let them out until your coach meets with them. Blame Mike again!

At that time we weren't on the cover of every magazine and tv screen for NCAA investigations. It's just more bad press for us.

Jesus, let the kid out of his LOI. Kid wanted to play for Pearl and not some clown who is learning along with him. Ware has better options now, just because you wear the orange-glasses doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to see this.

It's not his fault Hamilton mis-informed him. Lastly, he shouldn't have to sit down and waste his time with a token meeting with Cuonzo, let the kid move on.

Mike Hamilton didn't mis inform him.. When Mike told him that he beleived it himself..

Blame it on your beloved Pearl for lying and cheating again.. Kid signed his LOI clearly knowing this could happen..

If your mad at anyone, blame it on Pearl for letting these kids down.. Noone else..

So, becuase our entity screwed up royally and completely changed everything that the initial LOI was believed to be, Ware now has to agree to everything that changed? Bull. That is the clear definition of "extenuating circumstance". I guess you missed that day at the Adult Education Annex?

I also have a hard time listening to people attempt to explain to me how contracts operate when they can't even spell "you're".

Hamilton sure did lie to the kid. Both Jones and Ware called Hamilton and asked if they sent in their LOI if Pearl
would be here to coach them. Hamilton told both that Pearl wasn't going anywhere.

and do you know that what they said was wrong on that day? Things might have changed a bit

Same here. Most of it is ridiculous. Ware will get a release when he does what is asked, which is simple. It's common sense. UT spent time and money recruiting a kid who signed to play at UT. All this other bs is just argumentative drama. It's funny that something so basic can be turned into being "banned from Atlanta".

Until Ware actualy sits down with Zo and talks with Coach I don't mind this move. Now if he sits down with Coach Zo face to face and still wants to leave then let him.

So what you are saying is that it is all right for the AD to
lie to the recruits to get their LOI.

First, nobody knows the complete details, it is all speculation, by us, thinking we know what is best and how every situation should be handled as an AD. If it were that easy, we would all be AD at our beloved UT!! I would say when Mike told them that Pearl was going to be our coach, he Believed it himself. It was probably the Violations as recent as MARCH that changed that, that doesn't make Mike a Liar.... Like most, I think once the actual sit down meeting is held, If Ware wants out, Ware will be released. We have invested some recruiting time and money in this kid, and there is nothing wrong with trying to keep him onboard.

Steve Smith is waiting with a roster spot as we speak. He's probably already deciding whether to give him Stackhouse's or Carmelo's old locker to stick it to UT. Hell, he might twist the knife hard and give him Ron Mercer's.

Good one. lmao
