Yeah, I remember every sports talk/journalist/media rep screaming that Dooley was gonna be our guy too! No one got that one right. No insider came through for anyone til it was actually a done deal. Who's your omniscient media oracle who always right?

defend him all you want but he made statements that said both were done deals. And to be honest I got info on Kiffin (coming and going) from this board before any media person broke it

You know, I must admit I've lived in the South my entire life and while I have heard wonderful things about Austin, it's not the first place that pops in my mind when someone talks of the "West Coast".

This. Tony hears a lot of rumors and just goes with them without actually confirming anything. He'll get an occasional story right and get it first because he has no interest in high percentage reporting. I read his stuff to be entertained but I expect 95% of it to end up being BS. Anyone who believes everything TB says probably is a diehard follower of the National Enquirer.

Look, he went to UT like most of the rest of us. He hung around some of the people in the journalism dept and that gave him access to some of the people in and around the athletic dept. He's held onto some of the relationships and some of the people who know some of the people and so on. But you know, a lot of his stuff just comes from chatter from those folks and some from people like us. Then, he goes on the air to break the story and, kinda like a kid who is trying to fabricate a story, gets all tangled up in what he knows and what he thinks he knows. I remember I posted something on here that I just guessed at (and spelled it out as such) and thirty minutes later he was speculating about it on the air. Callers were calling in twisting it a little more and soon it was what I would call a bunch of nonsense.

Anyway, he does have a great show if you listen to all the characters. Don't expect to hear anything there first because chances are we've already broken it down here.

As far as X, who knows. I think it is him. I think he has access to somebody close to the department and gets some info there as well as TOS.

Also, for what it's worth, I think some of the people he "has" in the athletic department get kick out of some of the rumors they start just for fun.

Basilio is a joke, his website is a joke (tired of seeing him drool over the eagles) I think X is basilio, and X is a joke as well. And his crisis hotlines are lame. I would love to see basilio get put in a choke hold by someone simply for having to read about the eagles when I used to go to his website.

I've never met anyone who is always right, but I can think of a lot more people that are closer than Basilio. Hell, I'll give credit where it's due, Hyams gets more right than Basilio does.

I find Basilio entertaining on the radio. Never been to the website. He is a UT fan.

I cant even listen to the Hyams show.

Just a few examples of The Jimmy Hyamms Factline:

1) Tennessee WILL NOT be wearing black jerseys as per his sources. (the day before the South Carolina game):eek:lol:

2) Marlon Brown has committed to Ohio State as per his sources (National Signing Day):eek:lol:

3) Bryce Brown will not be visiting UT this weekend (while Brown was at UT football complex):eek:lol:

4) Jimmy Hyamms with breaking news...Derek Dooley is on a plane from Rustin La to Knoxville and will be introduced as UTs new head coach (about three hours after Chris Low had the story on ESPN and Basilio show):eek:lol:

I would rather listen to Basilio for two hours than Hyamms for four any day. Tony is at least an admitted Vol fan. When I need tennis or golf news, 990 is the place for it, but thats about it. Hyamms acts like the news king, but he just relies on sources like anyone else and he gets mad when coaches will not let him in their loop like Kiffin did him. At least Kiffin did one thing right

He is a reliable source - because he indicated Lovie Smith was going to be the new head coach. Don't tell Dooley that he is really just an interim guy.

Yep, that pisses me off too. He should stick to the VOLS. Who cares about the Eagles?

seems like he makes bold predictions with no facts or sources to back them up and banks on them somehow becoming true...

He's an unapologetically biased fan and alumnus. He loves the Vols. Has a sportstalk radio out of Knoxville. Gets some things right some things wrong. Regardless, I listen to him for his passion for all thing Tennessee. The big fish five star unknown recruit who visited last month is his latest big breaking story. We'll see what shakes out after signing day.
