Unfortunately what we have done has zero to do with where we are. Coaches don't see this as an opportunity to match the top tier schools.

We have the facilities, fans and backing of a first tier program which will help us get back but we are 2-3 years out.

I’m actually impressed with Fulmer’s choices! Go coach! I seriously thought he’d just think of someone like Cutcliffe.

FYI, on The Nation tonight Chris Low confirmed all of this. Mentioned Patterson and Fuente as names Fulmer has contacted and that Davenport really stood up on Friday (although he didn’t call out Haslam by name).

Yep. Took over an untalented Memphis team and won with walk ons. Took over a down VT program and to the ACC CG in his first season.

He's one of the better prospects out there.

I'm with you. I got it wrong too wondering what she was doing through this.

Right now, it looks like Davenport didn't sign the MOU for Schiano, ordered Currie back to get him off the road like everyone was clamoring for, stood up to the Haslam's and hired Fulmer. Sure, that all wasn't by herself, and she did make some other mistakes. Overall though, its looking more and more like she got more of it right than wrong in a situation Jimmy Haslam went out of his way to make impossible..

I buy the Davenport story. If she bucked up, firing her wasn't an option. Bill wants to be Senator. He would make a Senate run much, much harder if he fired Devenport and DiPetrio, two Academics, over a football power struggle after the cluster this thing was already a national embarrassment. He may want to run for President eventually. This would slaughter him in a primary.

The Volshevik Revolution gave her the ammunition she needed to dare them to fire her.
