Tony B. On CDD

Dooley was correct with what he was saying on the sidelines and I didn't think twice about going for the TD after Parlady kicked the ball into the back of the Oline....the mustang debacle was on the center and not the coach.....sounds to me like Tony B. is posting without knowing what he's talking about

...and it is so out of character for him to be that way, isn't it?:birgits_giggle:

makes perfect sense. It was a nasty hit and could have ended up much worse for MP

This.. Even the announcers were going on about how it could have easily broken his ankle/leg...

If u listened to TB on the radio today he was saying that Dooley hasn't shown he has a great instinct for the game, and to this point we have done some questionable things.

One note after tonight is look at Cuonzo Martin..it is VERY early and I may eat my words but a lot of people I've talked with were concerned with talent from our bball team. Well, from the looks of it after tonight....Cuonzo has really implemented a system that seems to be working well. It seems the team is playing extremly hard and he is working on playing with the what players he has and the strengths they possess. Not only that, it seems the players are buying into him and what he is bringing to the program. I know basketball and football are totally different games and there is a big difference between talent between the two games but it makes you wonder about Dooley. I mean after tonight's game against Duke, there is no question that many if not all vols fans have a good feeling about Cuonzo. I really don't think any Vol fans can say with complete confidence they have felt that way with Dooley yet.

So letting the clock run down to 2 seconds then calling a time out then coming out and taking a knee was good coaching?

that was great clock management, didn't want to waste the timeout, can't take them into overtime.

We may not have blown them out but were they favored? Did fans act as if and even call it a huge win?
I expect us to ALWAYS beat them.
But my point in this thread is we were not coached well yet again.

This was a Huge win for us not because it was vandy, but was because we Had to win, and the manner that we one it in. our coaches have made there share of mistakes this year, but you can't say Our coach sucks, and Vandys is a world beater, but yet we won.

Did he SEE Palardy kick it up the centers ass, or did he completely miss that part? There was a REASON Dooley didn't want to send the FG unit back out there.

I do agree that the last 20 seconds of regulation was poor coaching and execution. No argument there from me.... but I completely disagree with everything else he said.

I like Dooley, but I thought the last 2 min of the game were horrible.. We had the ball... Plenty of time to make a drive down the field... We start driving.. doing pretty good.. got a first down or 2 (can't remember) then all the sudden we take a shot deep with like 1:30 left on the clock.. I mean yeah I'm all for scoring but it really doesn't do you any good if you leave them with 1:30 to tie the game... It was a wasted play IMO.. We didn't need the TD.. Just a FG.. why not stick to runs and high percentage passes... Probably more on CJC than anyone.. After that play we took a couple more pass plays trying to get he first and all were incomplete.. We had to punt the ball away and give them a chance to win the game.. To me that was the worst part about the clock management...

From Tony Basilio:

I apologize. I blew it yesterday. I shouldn't have criticized Derek Dooley to the level that I did yesterday after a win over Vandy. It was poor form by me. We needed a day or so to celebrate around here. I was not thinking about the context of the day and my actions until later in the day it hit me. I tell my kids that there's a time and place for everything. So true. Yesterday was neither the time nor the place to come down hard on a coach. You didn't need that. I couldn't figure out why some people were being so hard on me until I reviewed the tape. My tone was nasty and off putting. And today, I truly get it. I did the very thing I often say of Dooley. I tried to win the game in the first quarter. I could have just as easily said what I said on Wednesday. And I really do want Derek Dooley to succeed. And I'm really concerned about his lack of game feel and instincts. I had all summer and off-season to voice this. It wasn't going anywhere. And I could've said it in a different way. My tone was brutal yesterday. I apologize. We still friends?

Had Bray not thrown the pick six the Vols go up 21-7 and most likely beat them going away.....the defense gave up scoring drives of 6 yards and 35 yards...how can you say they were poorly coached? they shut down Vandy's offense, overcame two costly turnovers and poor field position to win....but the coaches did a poor job....Queef.....do you realize just how damn dumb you look? My guess is that it's a relative question because you're so dumb you don't realize just how dumb you actually are.

What does one have to do to become a guru. I agree with you I question the criteria if VolBeef is one.

The lack of knowledge you and DJknucklehead have of Guru status is by far surpassed by your lack of football knowledge and knowledge of reality.

I'll bet you $10,000 against $5,000 that you will not find me calling Vandy anything close to world beaters. They are Vandy and should NEVER be favored over us. EVER! You Blind Faith Fans (BFF's) are the ones calling this a HUGE win.
I think it's a shame it took OT for us to beat Vandy at home and our damned coach SHOULD as well. But instead he goes nuts like he just won the BCS title.

Didn't notice this thread 'til Beef posted... :hi:

TB's quote as the start is hilarious. Thought everyone had just decided to give CDD and staff lifelong membership as UT's coaching staff. :lolabove:
