I will not critique the program tonight. This season shall stand as the true indication of the direction of this team.

For all the posts I have made about this program in the last few years, I will finally admit one thing. It was much more fun being critical before all of the dire predictions began to come true.

Tonight I will be thankful for 1998, and hope we aren't as far away from being a competitive program as it looks.

Watching the shadow of a Tennessee team we put on the field tonight made me as sad as the night Paul Roma walked to the ring as a member of The Four Horsemen.

This really is the night the legend died....

Tennessee, well, the only way to say it is, Tennessee just isn't Tennessee anymore.

Isn't it ironic dat the man who brought the program to amazing heights as brought it to amazing lows?

I can't remember who said it, but the poster who compared where Tennessee is now to the end of the Denny Crum era at Louisville deserves kudos. I'll never forget an old friend of mine telling me after his team beat the Cards one night that "Tonight, we beat a name. Nothing more."

.....It's sad to see that it's come to this.

I'm out of rage. Nothing left but the hope that we do the right thing going forward.

I think kidbourbon made that comparison, and he was exactly right.

Well said. Thanks for the memories Coach Fulmer, hopefully pride can be restored in the near future.

I also hope this is actually rock bottom.

I laughed at our performance in the first half. In the second half I truly realized how sad and pitiful this team is. I actually felt sorry for Phil and this team and all of Volnation. I'm not mad anymore, I'm just incredibly sad for the fans and the program. This is not Tennessee football.

It was almost as bad as watching Dan Marino in his last game. Or Watching Rick Ankiel his last season as a pitcher.

I go back to something I said in the game thread. This is exactly the brand of football Oklahoma played in the John Blake Era.

This just doesn't seem real. If you look at the team on the field without knowing the names and stories, who the players are, they just dont look right wearing Orange and White...
Can we beat UCLA next year ?

Lex, i think the legend has been dead for awhile. Smoke and mirror seasons clouded peoples judgement. Just a coach thats been at one place to long. Tennessee needs a new beginning. Phillip needs a new beginning, playing with his grandkids.

The QB decision was the most desprate attempt at salvaging something I have seen in some time.

Nick Stephens doesn't have talent to write home about, but the kid wants to win. It's easy to see. From what I have seen I will back Stephens moxie and want to, to the day I die. Ridiclious that he was taken out after 1 pick in 100+ passes.

You have to feel for Fulmer. We all know what has took place over the last 4-5 years, but you can't forget where he once took us. He took us to the top, and I'll always appreciate that and never forget it. That is why it is so sad to see where he is today. We are watching an end of an era folks.

Nah, dropping that last game to Vandy will be rock bottom. :banghead2:
