Toney Williams

Looked like he had all the tools to be a starting running back in the SEC, I liked his vision and foot quickness he really got in and out of the holes fast. I think its him and hardesty at the top with poole third for the time being. Williams will probably be moved to atleast third when bryce brown shows up, but who knows these guys are in college now and not in highschool anymore. Williams may out work all these top recruits, and if he does so be it. Let the best player play.

Toney Williams, imo, was the player of the game. He was a beast. He looks far more aggressive and quicker than Lendale White. For the sake of a "thunder and lightening" conversation, though, I think it's a fair comparison. BB is going to have his hands full trying to get in front of this guy on the depth chart.

He had a great game, but I think Quinton Hancock has to get player of the game.

I'm excited about him. I think we have have the top group of RB's in the SEC right now. And in one or two years when T. Williams, BB, and David Oku really show what they can do, wow.

AJC had an article about the top 10 HS performances ever in GA, and Toney had like a 6TD 400+ yard game (that would have made Al Bundy proud) that made the list. Herschel Walker had one, too.

Hopefully Toney makes Caleb King look stupid

I'm gonna have to go with Brandon Warren. He caught 2 TDs and the TD catch he made in triple coverage was just sick. And I'm purty sure that on TWs first carry of the game (which he took for about 25 yards), Warren was out in front of him down the sideline clearing a path. Nice effort from BW...
I would put Hancock 2nd though. He made a couple of very nice catches including the TD pass from Coleman on 4th and goal and another one from Coleman when he had to drap his foot before heading out of bounds...

Don't forget about Poole. He's only a sophmore. We've got at least 3 more years to watch these 4 RBs carry the rock at UT. We are gonna be loaded...:yahoo:

Glad to see that Brandon Warren has been put in a new position to get more touches on the ball. Totally underutilized last year. Hope he and Hancock blow it up this year.

I was very impressed with Williams. He always falls forward and he is kind of shifty for a power back. Lovin it.

BW also had that insane catch inside the 5 with like 15 seconds left in the first half. That catch was nice.

Toney is a real down to earth kid I have weight lifting class with him. Very quiet and he gets his workout done. I think the team had him take this class to get some extra work in.

I just hope all this talk turns into the running backs UT had in the past. All SEC teams were scared anytime the Vols got the ball, cause any given play could result in a Vols touchdown, it didn't matter what the field position was. 3rd and goal ball on the 18 yard line, hut, all of a sudden a orange streak comes out of the back field, 2 seconds later, give the vols 6. Instead of 3rd and goal, ball on the 1 yard line, hut, fumble gators get the ball. That's what it's been like the last few years. I'm ready for the Vols teams of the 90's. Everybody know what I mean?

This is what I like best about him, he always falls forward. 3rd, 4th, and short, goal line situations could be this guys bread and butter, if he's not the every down back.

Me myself i am not surprised how he did! I saw the file was a little bit on the not so sure side, but when i read the AJC and that he was the 5A player of the year it went out the window! this guy is going to be good! GO VOLS!!!!!

You guys continue to want to think Warren was 'underutilized' last season. I guess you did not notice that coming out of the huddle Kiffin was still directing Warren on where he was suppose to be lining up and what his responsibility was for the play. A couple times the ball was getting snapped and Kiffin was still talking to Warren. Kiffin does not get to stand out on the field during a regular game. His athletic ability is impressive though. That streak route leading into halftime was a very good grab. Moore had great concentration on that bobble catch he made. And Hancock showed good footwork and great hands on a sideline grab he made. At least some promising efforts.

Warren was a Freshman All American. He was able to put it together at FSU but was a total mess last year like everyone else on offense. The offense was under utilized, under performing, under the rug.

Williams looks like he can block to. I saw him put a good one on a LB in pass protection. Can he catch? Run, catch and block the total running back ala Marcus Allen. If he can do all three, nobody, including BB, will be able to keep him off the field.

This dude is a monster. Watching the game and I really like him. Faster than I thought. Also has a very good burst for a back his size. Really looking forward to seeing him and Brown pounding on some defenses.

IDK where Lucas Taylor went to HS, but he once rushed for 650+ yards and 6 TDs (he was the QB) in a game, and lost 49-42.

Wasn't he underrated because he missed like all of his senior year with an injury or something? Or was that someone else?

Either way though, he looked solid. he's not as big as LenDale, but he's a lot quicker.

No TW played all his games last season. I heard he scored 7 TD's in the first game of the season.

My hometown high school team (Walton) played his this year in football. Walton was (I believe) a top 2-3 team in the state at one point during the season so they are fairly good, but Williams put up around 300+ yards on them. Him running the ball was his high school's (Milton) ONLY chance at winning any of their games... I think he carried the ball 30-45 times a game or some absurd amount.

He is flat out a beast, though. He definitely was the best looking back out there yesterday!

That boy Daniel Drummond that GT got this class carried his team (Flowery Branch) on his back in the AAA playoffs and got them all the way to the championship game (first time ever). Look out for him, he's gonna be a bruiser. Same HS as Jaybo
