Tommy Townsend Looking to Transfer.

With Henderson going juco, that only leaves us with 20 signees for 16. That would allow us to back count the max of 3, so I'll stand by my statement. The class itself has plenty of room, but the overall roster may not.

For the 85 man roster? We have more seniors than you seem to think...along with some potential early departures to the NFL. We only have to meet the 85 by the following Fall, so there is plenty of room.

The current roster lists 16 current seniors. Assuming all of them have scholarships (they don't), and 3 guys depart early (Hurd, Kamara, Barnett), that gives you 19 slots under the 85 cap. Even with some players leaving the program, you'd need a lot of attrition to get to the 28 possible signing slots.

I never said it would be a major issue (it was honestly a rather innocuous comment anyways), but that it will certainly be more of an issue than the 25 limit.

I think the next Roster update will not take place before Fall Camp. IIRC

Townsend showed up on Florida's roster today, where his brother Johnny punts.

That's interesting. I'm surprised Jones would give him a release to a rival school. If he didn't, Townsend loses a year of eligibility.

If he can't beat out a walk on, does it matter where he goes? Probably a wasted spot on their roster too.

Never mind that the walk on that he couldn't beat out finished second in the Southeastern conference in punting average.

Townsend will sit out this year as a transfer, then will likely have a very successful career at Florida. Had Daniel not made incredible gains prior to last season, Townsend would have been our starting point her last year as a freshman. He's really good.

Just wondering why CBJ let him go to an SEC school ?

I wonder if McElwain picked him up not only as a future punter (his brother is a RS Junior this year) but also as an insider to Tennessee's special teams and any other parts of our game that he witnessed. If we are as good as advertised this season, then he could bring the playbook with him and it won't matter, but it makes you wonder.
