Firing Delmonico set the program back 3-4 years, hiring Raliegh another 2. I want to be fair and give the guy the benefit of the doubt, that is hard when you cannot consistently perfrom in the SoCon.

Do not even interview Scoenrock? Pierce another good candidate! I am very dissapointed in this hire, we should have kept Delmonico!

Firing Delmonico did NOT set the program back 3 or 4 years, even his own player said he gave the team no reason to play hard. That is as telling as his SEC record.

This hire I don't think was a good one but look what this coach had to work with

6 scholarships a year
$5,000 recruiting budget

He has won 3 of his last 5 vs Georgia
3 of his last 4 vs GT
2 of last 4 vs Clemson

O well, I guess it's time for the Vols to rebuild with Raleigh. If Tony doesn't want to be here then that's fine with me.

good points. I have spoken with a couple of college managers in the Carolinas and Georgia and am coming to find that this MAY actually be a good hire. I guess time will tell but I've decided to be in this guy's corner for a while. I think Hamilton may have actually made a wise decision, but a decision in which it will take time to prove out.

Considering that Raleigh seems to have re-recruited his returning team (something that seemed difficult only a few days ago) it appears he can connect with the kids. That might be his top recruiting coups ever. BTW, Brett Saberhagen's son is a pitcher for Raleigh at WNCU. He must not be too bad.

That or Saberhagen"s kid is not that good. This hire was all the way with the Clemson connection. I have been at the USA trails this past week and nothing but skeptics have been warranted on this hire.

Vol67 great stats, unfortunately he only managed to win the Conference once and the Conference tournament once.

That SoCon is a baseball powerhouse!!!!!

I'll take a guy who seems happy to be here over Delmonico's complacent smugness ANY day. Maybe we will actually get some in-state guys. There were three Tennessee teams playing in the Nashville regional with more talent from Tennessee than the Vols. Those teams actually made the tournament. If he can supplement the talent we seem to get from Florida with guys from this state, we should do much better than the last two years. I don't expect worse... We have a huge budget, so this is Raleigh's real chance to prove what he can do. I believe he can manage a team very well if he can get consistent upsets of major conference teams at a school most people do not know exists.

Bump.

It seems like the average fan is smarter than our AD. Most of these comments prove most knew this was a disaster hire. Oh well, almost over!

Frye was calling this day 1.

All you had to do was watch the press conference and listen to his interviews. Deer in headlights, stuttering idiot, completely unprepared for the job he just accepted.

His resume was only slightly better. His yearly records looked like Delmonico's except Rod's highs were much higher.

What's the Clemson connection I've heard about? Hamilton both hired him and retained him this season as a favor? Anybody know?

I don't know the specifics but I'm sure it got him the job; whether it saved him for this season I don't know.
