Todd Monken

Monken is possibly the biggest pipe dream of all the OC candidates.

He's scheduled to interview for the Jets HC job today. We're suppose to think that a guy interviewing to be an NFL head coach would become our OC? I'd be an absolute grand slam hire, but it'd be a surprise if he returns to college to be an OC. Besides, I'm convinced (like most everyone else on this board) that nobody other than Fulmer and Pruitt know who the real candidates are.

I heard a media guy on Fox Sports (FanRun) radio today (didn't get the guys name) who has covered Monken in the past. He said that Monken would be a homerun hire, BUT Tennessee won't get him. In fact, the guy said the Tennessee Titans are much more likely to hire him as an OC than the Vols. After all I've read and heard, it's my opinion that Yursich was the Plan B guy after Hugh Freeze was given the thumbs down by our AD, but Yursich changed his mind when the OSU job came open. I believe Pruitt has been scrambling on a plan C for several weeks with little success, especially if he's really just now considering Tee Martin as a CO-OC/position coach.

I like how people at home sitting on their couch think they why a coach hasn’t been hired yet

I am confused. Monken had a top 5 NFL offense and is interviewing for HC jobs, but he would potentially be interested in coming to UT?

Believe it when I see it.

I think there is a law on the books that we have to interview 37 candidates before one can be chosen.

Pruitt needs to hire an OC. Guy must have a big issue with control.
Coaching is like any other job. To be successful you have to work as a team. I think Coach thinks he has a good group that is all working for a common goal. I think he is trying to find that person that will fit in with his team of coaches. Look at last DC under Butch.

Or he's simply wanting to land the best candidate for the job and it's taking some time.

Does "Best candiate for the job" mean the best available OC or does it mean "the 14th best OC available who is the only one who will do what I tell him"?

Thats a sincere question and not sarcasm, considering we have a defensive minded coach and not an offensive guru. I could expect that level of meddling if Pruitt was an ex-OC.

One thing is being made real clear, this OC search has gone like our HC searches, its just been kept under wraps better. UT is still considered untouchable by the elite coaches until they somehow pull themselves out of the ditch.

If Tee comes here as CoOC it will be him and Will Friend and our fab base will not be happy.
Only some of them will be. Some wouldn't care and some would be happy. I just want CP to get who he feels like he can work with and not have to look over their shoulder so he can manage the team as a whole like he should

If Pruitt wants Todd Monken then get it done now before someone else gets him. I would find a place for Tee Martin because of his recruiting. Give him the WRs. or some job because of that. I am sure Fulmer would be glad to put Martin on the staff.
I gave you a like because I agree......however, don't want Tee as OC anytime soon.

So you want to just up and fire a guy who probably doesn't deserve to be fired just to bring in Tee Martin? lol no, just stop, Tee is at Louisville, he can stay there for the time being.

Tee isn't an offensive prodigy or anything, but I think he could call an effective game plan given a competent roster. I'd rather have him than some of these ego maniacs out there that would only cause toxicity in the program.

This is just insane thinking. What do you think Pruitt does in the interview? Say I'm going to micromanage the piss out of you?

Chris Low mentioned Tee this morning as a potential co-oc/position coach. I would like him as a wr coach. Low thinks an announcement within a week. But who knows at this point.

I worked at Maryland previously and some there think Tee is also in the works to join Locksley.
