An idiot that don't watch football knows Berry is the Man! McShay is a scrub because I put alot in Mike Mayock's opinions. He was the one Draft Guru that openly didn't cave in to pressure to endorse McFadden out of Ark. He caught some flack but time shows he is very good in his analysis. Besides Suh, there is no other converstion about no. 1 prospect! Who goes No. 1 is a different story?

W A D R..(And I love eric berry as much as every1 here) EB won't win the heisman bc he hasn't had a heisman worthy season... As you've heard I'm sure...his role has changed thus less big dynamic crazy plays...now if he goes crazy and picks 4 passes off in the final two games with another 120-180 return yards and a td or two...with his usual 8-11 tackles and maybe another sack....then his names in the hat.well see

I agree. Suh will be a force at DT and I would think he'll be either 1 or 2, based on QB need. Its SO hard to ever try and rationalize taking a safety with a top 3 pick. Its about the money. To me, there's not as much value in that position. You can get a productive, Pro-Bowl caliber safety in the mid teens-early 2nd round and pay much less. That said, Berry is ready to step in and be a star from day one. He's got all the intangibles to be a top 5 safety in the league after his 1st season.

Here's a comparison for you guys...he plays the field like Ed Reed, but can also step down into the box like Bob Sanders.

Think a more refined and less troublesome Sean Taylor.

correction. he won't win it because of his numbers. what people do not see is how much of an impact he has just BEING on the field with our defense. it's hard to get those "numbers" when teams prepare their offense for you in particular. he will win one of the trophys, and he should break the record in the next couple of games.

just look at the class where manning should have won the heisman. can you name 5 GREAT players from that class? in 10 years we will still know who Eric Berry is and where he came from.

just thought I would extend a warm hello from someone who has also lived on "the creek." i'm related to most of the boltons. you're actually the first person that i've met to be from there. small world and go vols!

He has made the single greatest impact of any one player on this team. Without Berry our defense is complete and utter crap.

I don't see how anyone watching this defense play hasn't noticed the impact of Berry. Teams watch where he is lining up before each snap. There are very few players that force defenses to a completely different side of the field. And even when they do, sometimes Berry will go from one sideline to the other to make a play.

You guys that don't think Berry is having a good year need to go back and watch our defense operate. What he is doing this year is nothing short of amazing. The stats may not back it up, but they belie how much of an impact he makes. And he is giving the scouts EXACTLY what they want to see out of a top 10 draft pick. He is showing his versatility in a way that he never was allowed to do under Chavis.

Mayock is also the same guy that had a man crush on JaMarcus Russell, whether we think these guys are idiots or not, they all miss, just like GM's do. But, make no mistake about it, they have the ear of the same GM's because of all the games they watch and the film evaluation they do. They see every player, and like some coaches have used the recruiting services to evaluate high school talent. Now personally, I think CPF relied a little to much on the services and less on personal evaluation of high school talent. Kiper has made a good life out of being an "idiot".

It's not hard to notice this when attending a game compared to watching on television. It was obvious to spot out Berry's role sitting in the endzone at the Ole Miss game. Berry would consistently line up weakside and Mississippi would bolt the other way. Granted no one could stop McCluster, but they wouldn't throw to him either. People tend to only see the plays he makes on the ball. I know he contributes significantly more to this defense when the opposition avoids Mr. Berry.

Chavis let Berry roam in his defense and that is why he had so many picks/ big plays. Monte uses him in a much different way, moving him around and having him play closer to the box, which as Sabannochio said does nothing but showcase his versatility. Even though the numbers are down, he has been a game changer all year and has done nothing but cement his status as a top 5 prospect and a sure fire top 10 pick.

Well, the Heisman voting was pretty stacked that year. Top 4:

Charles Woodson
Peyton Manning
Ryan Leaf
Randy Moss

One of those 4 doesn't belong, can you pick him out? The other 3 have gone on to be perennial pro bowlers, and among the best, if not the best at each of their individual positions.

I hope Berry goes lower in the draft so he can make an quick impact on an established team (cough Colts cough). I would hate to see him go to a craptastic team like the Raiders which are not getting any better any time soon.
