Asked who is the best player in college football. His answer, "The best player in college football is not going to be a heisman candidate and that is a shame. That player is Eric Berry."

Finally Berry gets his due credit from an ESPN source. They always had him toward the top but never #1, at least nothing I have seen has him at number one. I'm sure Mark May still thinks Mays is better though...

The Heisman trophy lost any form of respect when Peyton was robbed.

And maybe even before then.

berry has seemed quiet this year.

Ask Tim Tebow how quite Eric Berry has been this year. I bet his head is still ringing.

You are right though, he isn't having a regular "Eric Berry" kind of year, but I think a lot of that has to do with how CMK is playing him to support the run game this year. He isn't playing center field like he was in the past and that is why his Int #'s are down.

I disagree that Berry should win the Heisman this year. While he is the best player, it isn't reflected in stats or big plays this year as in past years. I think his impact is felt more in that opposing offenses are constantly aware of where he is on the field and try to keep the ball away from him. You also can't quantify the amt of big hits he has had that only show up in the stat book as a tackle. Therefore he should not win the Heisman.

And I don't think I like him being projected #1 in the NFL draft, because I would like to see him return next year...for selfish reasons. Either way, Eric Berry is SCARY!haha Go Vols!

Ya, bowls, conference titles and conference awards are all I ever look at anymore, most of the national awards are based solely on name recognition and popularity. Sad really. But Eric Berry is the most pro ready impact player coming out in this draft in my undereducated opinion.

Berry doesn't have the same numbers as last year, but he has similar numbers as Malcom Jenkins, and his reputation. That will win him the Thorpe Award.

I love EB, but he hasn't been as good as he was last year. He didn't have a very good game against SC or Ole Miss. He did have a very, very good game against Florida though. I love the guy, but he hasn't been as spectacular as he was last year, IMO.

Now I do know that he is playing a different defense and different positions, so i'm not faulting him for it.

I don't pick Heisman, but if I chose the most outstanding player in CFB it would have been:

'08 Tebow
'07 Tebow
'06 Brennan
'05 Bush (though VY if you decide after bowls)
'04 Peterson
'03 Manning
'02 Johnson (PSU)

So of the last 7 I've agreed with 2 selections.

the last few years of heisman trophy winners havent turned out to be much in the NFL. Eric will be the best player in this draft
