Before I say anything I want this guy bad, but what is the shot of getting him if Pete accepts the Seahawks job?

If Chaney leaves I could see Kiffin trying to bring in McNair and RB from Tampa.

This could get interesting. There are so many possibilities.

How would that work? McNair offensive coordinator/running backs and RB serving as special teams?

Exactly. McNair OC/Running game coordinator and Bisaccia ST/RBs.

Kiffin calls the plays, so the OC is a glorified title. But I find it difficult to imagine UT paying both guys what they'd want.

And McNair will be in great demand on the west coast. Guy is a great recruiter.

I believe that Kippy was bought in with Chaney's departure in mind. That gives Coach Kiffin more latitude in who he brings in. Remember that the Offensive Coordinator is really CLK.

If Mcnair came here..we would be in the Dillon Baxter race(#1 all purpose back)

True, but I don't see us hiring coaches to get a particular player in a package deal. (cough* Arkansas* cough Mustain *cough*)

Also, not sure what the board's opinion on the dogfighting scandal was (I wasn't a member back then), but: McNair says he is "not Mike Vick"

i noticed on ESPN in the Carrol article about resigning they mentioned that one of the leftover staff members has been contacted by another school about joining them...I wonder if that is TN and Mcnair

Agreed

the Offensive Coordinator is really CLK
Disagree: Kiffin has a lot of input obviously and is the primary play caller but there's a lot more to OC than that. Kiffin couldn't do all the recruiting and other HC responsibilities he has without Chaney managing the offensive duties.

great coach but now a little worried to get him with the word that he knew about Reggie receiving additional benefits

Don't want him. Why? This from Rivals

Dan Wetzel posted: said:
Troubling for USC is that the people who allegedly – or in some cases admittedly – supplied Bush and his family with extra benefits weren’t anonymous to the program.

Two founders of a fledgling San Diego marketing company were given postgame locker room access at the L.A. Coliseum, and one, Lloyd Lake, said USC assistant coach Todd McNair had knowledge of the benefits received by Bush.

I'm not real sure we go after this guy if SC gets put on probation. Especially if it's found out he had knowledge of any wrong doing. Wouldn't be in Tennessee's best interest i don't think, good coach or not.

Like it wasn't in Kentucky's best interest to hire Calipari, because he was the best coach for the job.

I promise Kiffin knew about the stuff with Reggie, being the guy who recruited him. But we all (well not true, but most) love Kiffin.

If he is a good RB coach, good special teams coach, and good recruiter, then we hire him if he is a good fit. Coaches do not get in trouble from school to school (Calipari).

It will be used to negative recruit TN, but Orgeron and L Thompson are both also not saints and recruit very well. "No Angels"

LT, Orgeron, K Brown and McNair if he came would be straight nasty recruiting. We would get tons of kids out of GA, AL, MS, LA and CA. Willie Mack is holding down Texas. Relying on Monte as our big name in FL is not awesome, but McNair would give us more in CA than we ever had.
