Just got home from the Big Orange Caravan here in Memphis. Very good crowd showed up. No groundbreaking news, pretty much the usual coach speak from CBJ. I was able to talk to Coach Canales for a minute before things got started, and I asked him how the qb's are looking so far. He said they are happy with the progress, and that "we are doing alot more work with them this spring and summer than we did last year, I can assure you that." From the way he said it, I took it that there hadn't been enough focus on working with them previously. It will be interesting to see how far they progress this summer. Again, no substantial news from the event, just wanted to share some info. In bball news, CRB said that he is working with Memphis coach Tubby Smith to get the series going again in 2018.

I was there also. Great crowd. I spoke to Kevin Beard for about 10 minutes before people realized who he was. Love the guy. I think we are in good shape with wrs for years to come. The dude knows his stuff. He had me ready to suit up and get after it. The players have to love him.

Based on the conversations I had it seems like they were all on the same page. I hate to use the phrase, "up and coming" most of these guys have been around the game forever but I just got the vibe that they have something to prove. All of them mentioned Bama. They seemed to understand that they are the standard and the sense of urgency to get to that level. I singled out Kevin Beard in my other post because I'm telling you, kids are gonna want to play for this guy. He has the it factor that you look for in a good recruiter and coach.

Maybe he was underscoring how it takes a lot more work to get a new starter (QD/JG) ready than an experienced senior (Dobbs)?

I guess its possible, but just the way he said it led me to think that he was implying the other. The emphasis that he put into it, along with his tone, was quite obvious.

I have been pondering on if CBJ is better with the "coach speak" than the actual coaching up of the players... #champsoflife

This is good to hear. Just as Shoop was hired to beat FL and succeeded, I'm hoping the remainder of this new staff was hired to beat AL.

Did they say "Bama" or "The Red Team"? :)

Did I just dream this but didn't Dobbs do internships and class work in the summer which would mean that he wasn't available for extra work in the summers?
