Today was Practice

Other things that have changed - Vandy is a sure win and may be the worst team we play all year. South Carolina is no where nearly as good as expected and I think Kentucky May be a little better than expected. 7-5 and a bowl win = successful year.

We win all home games except for Obammer. We lose all road games except for Vandy. Then go to a bowl.

I personally don't think you can take too much one way or the other from this game. We weren't as hyped up for this game as we were for Utah State, and it showed. Although both Utah State and Arkansas State have been better than average non-power 5 teams in the past few years, we really don't know how good either of these teams are this year yet. Quite frankly we don't know how good or bad Tennessee is yet. We know that we have some serious talent at Wide Receiver and tailback, and that we have a reliable, veteran quarterback in Justin Worley; but we also know that we have some issues with our offensive line. We'll know a lot more about our team next week when we take on the Sooners.

It was pretty clear that when we went up big going into halftime that CBJ and team decides this team was zero threat to win and wanted to use the second half as practice for the run game.

It was also very clear that the OC took his foot of the peddle and stopped calling quick throws (which was killing them) and began working more on our weaknesses like the run game and the deep bomb.

I personally believe he is using these early games as a warm up for HURD and that during the OK game and the early SEC games you will see a lot more of Lane. I believe he is not giving Lane as many reps because he knows Lane is already ready.

Feel free to disagree but we changed the play calling 100% in the second half and it was by choice...not because they were stopping us.

Well in his post game CBJ kept say "we put them into situations that..." as though the coaching staff had done it. Maybe you're right. I felt like we were just sort of playing with USU near the end.

I really hope you're right. Even after a 2-0 start, this team has me nervous.

We are 2-0. After we beat UTC, Vandy, Kentucky....then probably 2 out of Florida, Mizzu, gameCOCKS, and Ole Miss.....we are going bowling!

Last week our screen game with all our physical/speedy WR's killed Utah State....didn't see that today because the OP is right. Even the announcers that didn't know Smokey's name brought it up at one point.

If these last 2 games have been practice....then lets hope we don't get anymore players injured during practice.
Next week....if OK gets up big by the half, I hope our " best coaching staff in the country" puts in our 2nd and 3rd string across the board. At least then...we have a chance in SEC play. We cannot afford injuries at this point.

You are all DA's how was today practice?!?!? we played balls to the wall the whole game against a school that was d2 15 years ago and plays in the sunbelt, yeah you can bring up Utah state(who also stinks), but we have to face the facts, -THAT WAS NOT PRACTICE- and, -WE TRIED AGAINST ARKY STATE- I mean heck we were in a hurry up offense. GET REAL VOL NATION!
6-6 with bowl at best

I think he mean't "we" the offense and special teams put the defense in situations

I felt like that the final FG attempt was practice for the frosh. kicker.

We are going to get our backsides beat down several games this year. This is a very young team. We are relying on freshman all over the field. It's going to take several years before we can compete with the big boys. Our success this year will depend on how the underclassmen respond to some of these beat downs. Also, injuries will play a huge role too. I think 6-6 will be a tall order this year.

Also, I think the offensive line will severely limit our success this year. If we can't block USU or ASU, how are we going to fair against any SEC defensive front?
