I believe we are going to hear something from the SEC today on Gerald Williams' eligibility.

My gut tells me yes. I think the arbiter (whomever that is at this point) will take his entire journey to this point into consideration.

I'm with you Lex. I refuse believe that lightening is going to strike twice and he is going to be ruled ineligible.

I thought is first denial was shaky at best. There are still several kids currently playing college football that graduated with help of that "prep" school down in Florida....if I remember correctly.

I would feel really bad for him, and I think it would let the team down if they saw his drive and ambition only to be let down by a decision. I think it would also give them added incentive... kind of a "Do it for GW" kinda thing.


I am hoping it doesn't come to that though.

I agree Lex...This is about persistence, attitude and most importantly character. To deny a young man that has been a model of what educators want out of student in terms of effort would send a very negative message to all young people.

Most of all this will be the single most important decision in determining the course of Gerald's life.

Sorry guys but I cant see the ruling being in Geralds favor to play for the Vols. We have seen this too many times here on the Hill, why would we expect anything different. Not saying there is an agenda against the Vols, just see them saying we are sticking to the rule. Fact is the administration is to blame for this one...Man I hope Im wrong but everytime I get my hopes up for something the SEC, NCAA crush it. Man, I hope Im wrong, Gerald could be a warrior for us.

How about the "life experience" credit route? GW could write a paper about his journey to get to where he is today and get an easy 'A' in Ethics 101.

On the last day to add or drop classes at the University of Tennessee, the junior college middle linebacker transfer will find out whether he has satisfied SEC eligibility requirements to play football for the Volunteers.
Williams, who originally signed with Tennessee in 2005, sat out this week of practice, including Thursday, as he awaits SEC approval of a math online correspondence course he took this summer.
“We’re hopeful to hear something,” UT coach Phillip Fulmer said Thursday. “For drop and adds, tomorrow’s our last day.”

I just can't see them dragging this out for so long and screwing the kid over. I really hope it doesn't happen

Just don't know if I can see it going our way twice in one year. I think our academic advisory department made a HUGE mistake in letting him take a correspondence course and not checking up on the rules. I unfortunately am going to say no with hopes that I am wrong.

I unfortunately am going to say no with hopes that I am wrong. dont get it, i had the same academic advisor for 4 yrs @ UT and he worked ALOT of things out for me, cant believe someone in the admin. office let him down .

The guy should be commended by all UT fans; he's been trying to get in for 3 years, not to mention he could already be playing in another conference. I don't think they shoot him down for a third time.

Man, I sure hope he gets in... but the pessimistic side of me is prepared for bad news. I voted no, and I hope that I'm wrong.

I think that the SEC has only had the official paperwork for a few days now...so it's not like they've been completely sitting on it. Getting the test completed, taken to be graded, grade being sent to CC of SF, CC of SF taking their sweet time, CC of SF sending his completed transcript to UT, and UT sending the paperwork to the SEC took forever.

If the SEC doesn't go his way, I hope that he can swiftly find a good spot on a non-SEC team (and preferably one we will NEVER play).

Amen brother.

I think that he gets in. Don't know if Slive wants to take the chance of him going to another conference and winning all kinds of defensive awards. Beano first brought this up on Bassilio's show yesterday and I happen to agree with him.
