And I woke up this morning thinking it was just the 10-year anniversary of February 23 2008.
Silly me.

One of the last UT games I had the pleasure of enjoying with my Dad. I will never forget it. He was having a helluva a battle with throat cancer at the time and that game gave him one of his best final days. He was always a BasketVol fan. He had the opportunity to play golf with Coach Ray Mears when the big orange caravan came to town in the early 90’s. He was over the moon when we hit our short lived #1 stretch!

Who cares, it was AWESOME!!!!!!!

This right here and honestly I’m glad OP posted this. I needed a little pick up and this was good medicine! Living in Memphis and getting to beat #1 Tiger High was like a dream come true for some of us.

Amen to that. I’ve never felt more satisfied with any victory in Tennessee sports history than this one. Memphis fans took on the arrogant smug personality of its coach and it was awesome to put them in their place!

10 years ago, #2 Tennessee ousted #1 Memphis on the road en route to a 66-62 victory. It was the peak of the Tennessee-Memphis rivalry that pitted two coaches and two teams that hated each other. It’s my favorite victory of all time.

Watching Auburn play this season, causes me to wonder what could have been, if Bruce had stayed at U.T.
I know that if we had made our free throws against Michigan State then we would have been playing Florida for the championship. We beat Florida twice that season and we could have won again and given U.T. it's first NCAA men's basketball championship.
At that point, (1) it would have been difficult for U.T. to keep because Michigan, Kentucky, Louisville etc. etc. would have eventually called him, once they had an opening. (2) If he could win with the roster that we had, then what would it be like if he got a great roster?

I remember because I was there! Had my old Chevy driving down Beale street blaring Rocky Top with a big orange flag flying from the bed of my truck!

Still got this little bit of parchment hanging in my garage.... Ahh.... The sweet joy of the tigers tears. I'll never forget!

I have that same clipping. Never have I been so satisfied with a victory, even moreso than any football regular season win.

It’s unbelievable that that’s already been 10 years ago. I watched every second of that game and loved every second of it. It was especially great that JP Prince, a Memphis native sealed the win! Put little Tiger High in their place!

Haha. I have a soft spot in my heart for their medical center though. Obviously top notch, and they've saved my ass twice.

Dude I hate vandy basketball. Gosh they piss me off.

Medical stuff is cool though. My family has had some good results there.
