I fully expect Butch to be fired today and then we can all collectively relax and go to Saturday's game to support our team and players without having to boo every in game decision.

Our players deserve our attendance and support and it will be awesome to have the firing of Butch behind us.

If for some unbelievable stupid reason he's still the coach on Saturday, I've already prepared by brown paper bag :p

You are about to have your day ruined..He will not be fired today or tommorrow...But he WILL be fired.

The only thing I feel bad about him being fired is that when senior day comes up all the seniors who were recruited by Butch will be hugging some other coach coming out of the T. I want him gone but at least the players are still playing hard for him.

The only way I see him being here next year is with the condition that he fires his assistants, brings in new ones with the approval of the AD, and let them do the coaching as he should have been doing all the time. I really don't expect that to happen. It's hard to teach an old dog new tricks!

The thought of this makes me sick.

I'll believe it when I see it.
And as much as I despise Florida, at least they were decisive in regards to firing the coach. We have not heard anything from the AD which even hints that CBJ is out.

JMO I believe that once we are no longer bowl eligible ( which should be within the next 2 games). That the university will finally make the move to put the brick by brick era to an end. It appears they still only value the great American dollar instead of building a great football program. Can anyone with insider information confirm that if we lose 2 out of the next 4. That there is a clause in the contract that the buyout can be decreased by so many millions? If they truly wait until the season is over then the athletic dept. deserves all the backlash coming in their direction.

If Coach Jones coaches out the year...Tennessee will finish 0 and 8 in SEC and 4 and 8 in season record. Both never been done in Tennessee history.. Need interim coach now, get new coach if possible first of December and go to bowl with new coach with 6 and 6 and save recruiting class...I hope, not likely..

That would save the recruiting class, right? Or is keeping him going to cost us the class? I get confused. Do the kids want to play for the staff they committed to or do the players who committed to this staff want to see them fired so they can play for the new guy....who has yet to be named?

Kids want stability. They don’t want to commit to a coach running a spread offense running and 4-3 defense focusing heavily on safety and corner blitzes then have a coach come in with a pro style offense and a 3-4 defense that depends on the LBs bringing pressure and safeties majority cover deep passes. Everyone thinks Butch is going to be fired. The recruits don’t know what systems the new coach will bring in so they will go elsewhere if they aren’t 100% VFLs. End of the day a great coach will be here for 15 years and a great recruit will be here for 3 or 4. Don’t rush the coaching hire to appease recruits.

Delaying the decision only makes the new focus of our new administration clearer. They want to do away with our traditions in athletics. Yes we get an education, hold good jobs, become successful, but we continue our love for UT THROUGH OUR SUPPORT of our teams. I am so sad

I really think this whole narrative is way overplayed. I do think UT has some serious issues with how decisions are made, which leads to power struggles at the top. But even Ivy league schools know, there has to be a strong partnership between athletics and academics to drive alumni loyalty and big money support.

In other words, what some would tell you is an agenda to diminish the influence of the Athletic Department, I would tell you are broken business systems that will get fixed in time.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and assume we've hired the right people to run the University - at the top, on the academic side and the athletic department. It certainly couldn't be any worse than the prior regime.

Mediocrity seems to be what the Admin. is looking for. Therefore, I don't expect the "Champion of Life" to be fired today, if at all!

Disgusting he's standing there flopping his gums. There is nothing good coming from him hanging around. People are ABSOLUTELY KIDDING THEMSELVES if they believe keeping Butch is somehow indicative of us getting Gruden.
