Today’s Clarion ledger doesn’t even expect a game .

Did the Clarion ledger mention that Ole Miss’ defense is basically at the same level as South Carolina’s and not much better than Mizzou?

Ole Miss's defense isn't in the same stratosphere as South Carolina's. South Caroina is still 37th in the nation after we torched them and they've already played Georgia too. Ole Miss gives up 100 more yards per game than South Carolina and is closer to Missouri than they are USCEast. Under Lane Ole Miss allows 41.5 ppg in SEC play over 11 games. They are absolutely awful and shouldn't be able to slow us down barring just terrible luck or bad execution on our behalf.

Florida gashed Tennessee's defense for 283 rushing yards on 40 carries. Pittsburgh threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns against the Vols. Ole Miss' potent offense, led by quarterback Matt Corral and a trio of top-flight running backs, will be able to take its pick on how to expose the Tennessee defense.
Gators rushed for 245 on 'Bama and Ole miss only rushed for 78. UF has a better running back corps and o-line than Ole Miss. Not quite sure how you get Ole miss to have top-flight running backs. Bama proved you only need to stop the run, make them one-dimensional. FL gashing us doesn't equate to Ole Miss doing the same. Your logic is flawed if these are the metrics we are using. Nobody is arguing whether ole miss will score, their defense still has to make stops and I like our defense just a little more. We commit no turnovers and we probably will win this game.

This kind of stuff is what makes the Florida game so irritating. We have an unquestionable identity in every game this year, except one, where (to everyone’s shock and awe) we magically forgot how to play football.

Just like we do against Florida EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR.

So now we’re stuck wondering “Are we only good on offense because Mizz/SC are that bad? Did Florida expose us or is that another fluke?”

I absolutely HATE that we open SEC play with them every year. I want a world renowned scientist to come figure out why we forget how to play when we go up against Florida.
Move the Florida game to November problem solved, but we all know the gators would pitch a fit.

Ole Miss let damn Arkansas run all over them, and as "good" as Arkansas is they are definitely not an offensive powerhouse.

in all fairness they did stop that last two point conversion and “only” gave up 51 points - to a team averaging 28.6 points per game going into the game. If Arkansas can score 180% of their average points per game maybe we can too…btw, that would be 74 for us…

Here's the Clarion Ledger prediction. Funny it reads quite different than this post does it not lol.
Prediction
Ole Miss 49, Tennessee 45: Like last week, Ole Miss' offense is going to need to get and stay hot in the second half of a shootout. The Rebels' offense is one of the best in the country and it's hard to bet against Corral right now. But Tennessee keeps this one really close and if the Rebels' defense plays like it did against Alabama and Arkansas, Ole Miss should be on upset alert.

Mississippi newspaper The clarion ledger apparently thinks that ole miss can run and pass on us at will and our offense numbers only high because of weak opponents. So should we still play the game or forfeit?
I wonder what they thimble about their defense? Seems to be one of the worst in the Nation. I think both teams will score a lot of points, but I think our defense will play well against them. Pitt has score a lot of points all year and we are actually playing a lot better defense now than we did against Pitt. We are also better in the turnover game than we were against Pitt. We win today

I honestly haven't seen one snap from Ole Miss this season but how is their defensive side of the ball any better than Missouri or South Carolina when they are 106th in run defense?

Honestly... I kind of wish the Vols got this kind of homerism support from the media.

Yeah, I think our odds are good as long as we are executing well.

I think our defense is pretty bad. We seem to do alright on first and second down. But seems when it's third down we usually play soft and end up giving the first even if it's 3rd and 10 or 3rd and 15. Go back and watch previous games. It's worrisome.

If their D is as bad as everyone is saying I think it'll be a close game. Unless we get a few stops then we could run away with it.

Only time will tell.
Our defense is so bad it’s 45th ranked in the nation. Should be blue font

It's bad. I specifically brought up 3rd downs. Go back and watch all the games. Our 3rd down D is atrocious. Even against cupcakes.

You can't possibly be happy and bragging on our D

Ours is 45th and theirs is 101st. And you think OUR defense is the one with issues?

It seems like it's been that way for a decade!

Well of course a Mississippi newspaper is going to be biased.
