Tobias Harris (merged)

I've always found it funny the way this fan base roasted Bryce Brown's poppa for being, "too involved", and yet those same people seem quite silent on Torrel Harris. I can remember people praising Torrel Harris, because he, "had a plan for his son to get to the NBA".

I think the difference is that Bruce Pearl is a beloved coach and Lane Kiffin was reviled by Tennessee fans. Probably a lot of fans are very angry over Pearl being fired, like me,:cray: and can understand how Harris feels.

Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin have a lot more in common than the Pearlophiles would ever care to admit. Actually, Pearl is worse. Lane Kiffin has never been charged with unethical conduct.

Torrel hasn't said anything that I'm aware of that would categorize him as being a "parent who should shut up" from what I know. I heard the Basilio interview and he was well-spoken compared to most parents I have heard talk. He, as a former college player himself, was certainly aware of all the issues that surrounded this coaching change. It didn't sound like he was saying Tobias was shutting the door on coming back.

A lot of this boils down to who gets the job, and what Tobias's position is in the draft. If he's a high pick, he has to go do what's best for himself. If not, it doesn't sound as if Tobias has ruled out coming back either.

Tobias is not ready for the NBA he will sit the bench unless he plays for Golden State, the Timberwolves or the Cavs. Tobias should stay and be a top 10 pick next year

This. If he goes to the Bulls as projected, no way he plays over Boozer and Noah.

I wish he would stay one more year at least But, it doesn't look good for us right now.

Thought this was interesting from Torrel:

Another concern often expressed about student-athletes who test the draft waters is that a player might prematurely expose their weaknesses to NBA teams but Harris feels just the opposite. "Tennessee didn't really showcase Tobias' skills, he said. "When he works out with [NBA] teams they will also see that he can shoot. He's really a 3-man who can play the two."
