Tobias Harris: At the top of his class GoVolsXtra

He also said all the attacks against Pearl are just making the team work harder and get closer.

Maybe the message boards need all kinds. When Pearl leads this team to greatness he should send a bottle of liquor to the amateur coaches who rip him regularly.

Very good article. This is Pearl's deepest team. As we get closer to the season and I hear more and more about the work ethic, I think this team has the potential for greatness.

You rarely see greatness that comes without adversity. This team has adversity and it has hungry players who are working VERY hard.

I am a Pearl supporter, cal me Bruce's JewJock.

Physical practices? Meh. We don't need any more late night, gun-toting, dope smoking rendezvous. Or coaches who ultimately are weak in character. Or tears at press meetings.

What I don't hear is the kind of off court commitment that his players need to make. The kind that Dooley is demanding and the kind that most successful programs can point. Dooley will lead by example and by his coaching staffs commitment to the principles of respect for your team, your university and for yourself.

Pearl has no chance at this point to sell that type of team bonding since he has dirty hands and has never been at the forefront of leading by example in this area.

This team great? Perhaps? In won-loss. Great in the terms of Wayne Chism or what the hell was the white kid from White Station HS who couldn't jump or shoot or Lofton playing with testicular cancer?

That, sir, remains to be seen. :ermm:

P.S. Pearl, his coaching staff and his players have a golden opportunity right in front of them. They can plead "we're human", fix the mistakes that they refused to acknowledge and are now public, and build a great thing from this. If Pearl doesn't, I'll be the first to fire up his stake ala Joan of Arc. :twocents:

I certainly question Pearl's coaching ability at times, but he has done well with getting the guys through adversity, so I'm optimistic about this season.

Did I wish it upon him? Nope.

Get your thong out of a wad.

I was just saying, we have terrible luck as an University lately in sports.

I think I'll make my own judgement on what I want to post, Mr Messageboard Police.

Thanks though!

The team doesn't have adversity. The coach has self-imposed adversity. I'm sure the team respect for Pearl just grew after this NCAA mess.
