And why not apply this logic to a potential UT/LSU title game....
because for some reason, the free world still thinks GA is in first place.

i love watching and listening to the prognosticators of late. they all are quick to say that GA is in 1st place, and they begin to talk about a potential GA/LSU game......and at the end, they follow all that up with the ever so condescending "of course, GA needs some help from Tennessee, because they control their destiny in the East", and that's it......on to the next story.

and i understand why......we have those 3 clunkers on our schedule, and no one has forgotten it......but at the same time, magically, everyone has forgotten 35-14 on 10-6-07.

To Whom it may concern:
Hello, We're the Tennessee Volunteers, and until further notice, we will be in 1st place in the SEC East, not the Georgia Bulldogs. We appreciate your enthusiasm for the race for the East, but please note, Tennessee did beat Georgia on October 6th 35-14. We understand how this oversight can happen, given that Georgia rarely ever beats Florida, we can certainly see why that would be reason enough to assume Georgia would be in 1st place. It should also be noted that Georgia also lost to South Carolina as well, and Tennessee beat both.

Thank you,
Vol Nation

P.S. it's not our responsibility that after Florida dismantled us, they went on to lose to LSU, Auburn and Georgia. We spotted Florida a two game lead. We had no part in them blowing that lead. for inquires about that, please refer those comments/questions to Lawgator1.

Go Vols.:salute:

I can answer that. We had our shot and blew it.

Now before you go all misty eyed on me, remember, you have a shot and are completely capable of fumbling it away just like we did.

As you know, a UT loss down the stretch probably benefits the Gators, even if its just opening a better bowl door for us. But in a way, I am rooting for you to win the SECE because I know how morbid this site is going to be if you don't and I've already been working on my posts about next year. Would be more fun if you actually thought you were good.

the problem is UGA stands a great chance of sneaking into a BCS game if UT goes to the SECCG. If UT loses in the SECCG, UGA gets a BCS bowl, and we get what? maybe the chicken bowl? I have to fear that Bama, Auburn, UGA, Florida and LSU would all get bowls over us.

and of course... i'm sorry. I said before I wish I could be positive, but I can't buy into this team. Going to Commonwealth and beating the 'Cats is going to be very very difficult IMO. Sadly, I don't even feel comfortable about Saturday. Only thing helping me through this week is knowing we are undefeated at home.

On the way back up from the Atlanta airport yesterday and 750am had a promo loudly procaiming "750 the zone...home of the first place Georgia Bulldogs". I wish there was some way to convey voice tone on here because it was SICKENING. I would feel the same way if I heard a UT promo that said that and we control the whole enchilata

hence the "unitl further notice". i'm not predicting anything in that "letter". just a healthy reminder that currently we're there, and we're the only ones that can stay there on our own w/out any help from anyone else.

unlike some, i'm far from ready to book hotels or purchase tickets. but i do like our position better than any of the other 5 teams in the division.

honestly, i don't care about that. we control our own destiny for all of that. we control who wins the East and to a lesser extent, but still true, who wins the SEC and who goes to the Sugar bowl. I'll take that over what GA has right now any day.

i've been on that roller coaster myself this season, but at this point with two to go..........to get to ATL and play for the SEC..........yes, i'm very excited.........i now can't wait til we play again.....again. and that can continue or end on both of the next Saturdays........but i'll take my chances.

Go Vols.

that is true, but I guess the fact that the trip to Lexington scares me so much I can't get too excited about controlling our own destiny. Plus the thoughts of another mediocre bowl just kills me. But i've said all along, prove me wrong Fulmer. Show me that you've got what I claim you don't have.

I'm always excited to see us play, I just have doubts and I'm not holding my breath for anything.... yet. I've said it before though and I'll say it again. If Fulmer gets us to the SECCG, absolutely he gets to come back for a year. If he somehow does win the SECCG, I will get off his back for at least 8 years.

I understand how you feel. I think alot of fans are cautiously optimistic about the next 2 games. Yes I know vandy beat us 2 years ago but so did everyone else. In fact If I remember correctly we had a better road record than home record that year. We also seem to have a trend going is that we have a lead at half time. If we have much of a lead at all vandys offense will not be able to do anything to get them back in the game.
KY is different but they do have some injuries and those are likely to only get worse with the georgia game.
If we dont abandon the run we will likely win those 2 games.

the other thing about the prognostication that has killed me lately when they discusse the SEC East race, is after they discusse the scenarios for both GA and FL, and follow up with the "they both need help from TN" thing.....it's presented almost that it would be a sin if TN DIDN"T help out one of these two team.

i don't know.....but i just get a chuckle every time people start discussing it. people calling in on talk shows here in Charlotte already wanting to discuss who will win......GA or LSU? and no one even brings up TN......

i'm really ok with this folks, i'm not in to the whole ESPN conspiracy theory stuff.....but if there ever was a season that i like being ignored, this would be it.

it's going to be interesting, of that i have no doubt.

we're just not the sexy team right now. Im ok with that as long as we step on Vandy and UK's face with a hobnail boot.

I agree 100% some of these uga fans here at work are all talking about going to atlanta ,and some are trying to find tickets, it's disgusting....

Yes it will be interesting and will just be that much better should tennesse win out.
...speaking of....I thought Munson was done?? Poor health, age, ect. I don't make a point of stopping on radio broadcasts of the Bulldogs. Last week I was having to run to the store and was scanning through xm and darned if there was Munson saying "well, that's the whole point, Lindsey". Hate the dogs, but had a wistful chill from yesteryear, childhood, and John Ward....Eli Gold and Munson
