To the Worley Worshippers

It is not about burning a red shirt. If Dobbs was good enough he would be playing. This whole idea Jones is "saving players" while the team is losing is nonsense. The best combination of players is currently on the field.

CBJ likes Worley man even though he knows Worley isn't the future.

OP. Wow. Really?

The OLine is having serious issues getting push in the running game and protecting our QB. And that is Worley's fault? I just don't understand that. The OLine is going to develop. They will get better. But, dude. Stop. Justin Worley is the best man for the job. Coaching from the cheap seats is for the birds.

Go back and watch that game and then tell me how many times Worley could have run the ball.

It's true, but only because the coaches decided from day one of spring practice that Worley was the starter. QBs improve by taking reps with the guys they will be on the field with. Peterman apparently got only a handful of first team snaps and Dobbs got none. This is why Worley is playing with more confidence, and therefore better than last year; but his numbers are almost identical to last year, i.e. mediocre. The line DOES make way to many mistakes, but Worley does too.

And, since I keep hearing the "Dobbs is third string so he must be lousy" argument, I'll say: coaches sometimes make mistakes. They have odd biases and pet peeves and, especially at quarterback they don't always play the best guy. Some of them lean toward seniority. Some of them are always looking to stick the young guy in. Some will always go with the guy with the bigger arm. Some always go with the mobile guy. And some seem to use a Ouija board, lots, coin toss or some such.

Nice to see others on the board who know what's really going on.

Just what do you guys think Dobbs will do better than Worley? Have you forgotten how lame he was last year? He couldn't throw or run and that was behind a legitimate Oline.

You'll find out next year. :)

He wasn't lame our receivers were. He was hitting our guys right in the numbers and they were dropping the balls.

you always know when an idiot is trying to talk football when he just blames the quarterback to all his friends and colleagues…..the never puts his name to the challenge

worley tires his oline out by holding the ball forever. teams are catching onto this. the kid can't read a defense

Maybe Worley thought Katy Perry was hot for him instead of Oklahoma's QB saying "call me" on gameday. If thats the case I might be able to at least understand this performance. If not, its simply unacceptable for a senior to play like that against this FL team.

Yup, after 3 straight losses I'm almost willing to bet locker room morale will be headed for the ****ter real soon

Guys don't you know that its a process? We have big problems on the Hill. A majority of our fan base needs to take a look at other coaches and ask why can't we win a close game.Because we have a coach that refuses to change his philosophy. Playing safe will not win close games.

Agree. It would difficult for even Peyton to play behind this Oline.
Not trying to kick Worley, but, Peyton does have better field vision. Worley sat too long looking for receivers, his instinct to move up in the pocket needs to improve greatly. No line can hold a block that long!

You can't win the Kentucky Derby with Jackasses. Give Butch time. Instability is what got us into this mess.

Worley looked like Peyton Manning against Georgia. Whatever you think about Muschamp, he is a great defensive coordinator, and he had two weeks to figure out how to get to our young offense.

Worley defenders can make valid points, but so can the bashers. Truth is, there's something there for everybody.

He's a great kid and an average qb. An average SEC qb will handle the Utah St.s and Arky St.s but come up short against SEC defenses (see bama and LSU yesterday).

Our OL problems are a given, and the fact that Dooley didn't sign any Olinemen in 2012 has been repeated ad nauseum. But just as glaring is the fact that this staff didn't sign a qb in the last class...an athletic, mobile qb suited for Bajakian's offense. And not
having the run threat at qb puts just that more pressure on a young OL.

Still think he's a magnificent QB now?!

I'd love to say bring in Dobbs but it's just not worth burning his red shirt!

Dobbs couldnt hit the water if he fell off a diving board! Did see him last yr? Worst QB play in the history of Vol football. He'll get his chance next year, so lets hope hes matured and ready.

Worley gives us the only hope this yr. Give the guy a break. He's looking thru his earholes every other play. Nevermind the 20 spot-on passes he made, and keep focusing on the 3 he missed. Lets not forget the drpped passes that coulda won it early on.

As we already had five QBs on the roster (Worley, Dobbs, Wegzyn, Peterman and Ferguson) it wasn't as critical as other positions like the DL and skill players he recruited.

So I could see why he skipped over a QB since he had Ferg as a RS in his pocket and there were other positions to fill. And I doubt CBJ knew how that little situation was going to play out so I can't blame him for overlooking a QB in one class in order to get other badly needed skill positions.

I respectfully disagree with the Dobbs assessment. He showed a lot of raw playmaking ability. He feels the pressure much better than Worley. The interceptions were bad, but his accuracy was every bit as good as Worley's. (Admittedly, Worley is inaccurate, so that's not saying all that much.) He had half a dozen longer throws that were right on the money and dropped. He ran well. He played the Vandy and Kentucky games with a bruised throwing hand and hobbling on a bad hip. Still against Kentucky he put together a complete game. I, for one, was hoping against hope it would convince Butch to hand him the reigns in spring and not look back. (I knew he wouldn't, but a guy can dream, can't he?)

You're wrong about Dobbs. Dobbs was hitting our guys right in the numbers last year and they were dropping the balls.

As far as for Worley I guess it won't matter because he'll be gone after this season and we'll finally get to see a real QB battle take place.

I'm still behind Worley. Give him a f'n break. He had a bad game... and besides, it's not like we have a star backup to bench him for. Worley's a hundred times better than Peterman.

Behind Worley is a pretty safe spot. The rush seems to stop wherever he's standing.

Worley's toughness and determination is admirable, but he has made 4 key turnovers in the last 3 games and at least three of those turned wins into losses.
