We are where we are. IMHO, this is a better hire than Dooley, Jones, or Pruitt. At a minimum, we're going to see a philosophy of play built around scoring points and putting pressure on the opponent. This is referred to as if it is a new idea. It is actually what Spurrier did at UF. It was always successful against the "Fulmer/Pruitt" philosophy of ball control and defense.

I actually like his answers and he has ideas/plans on how to fix issues. He has an identity on offense. IF he can recruit to his needs then I think he will turn out pretty well. I am beginning to have cautious optimism about it
I like that Hooker is on board plus real talent at WR and RB. I think his O takes some pressure off the OL too.

Yeah I was looking at his record at CF and only one of the losses was a blowout(BYU) every other loss was within a score including a 3 point loss to Cincy this past season.Gives me hope actually.

Bandage up your fingers and get on board or GTFO

Go Vols!! Best of Luck to new Coach!!

I think we could have and should have hired better. With that being said, I'm willing to take a "wait and see" approach. The potential is there for us to win if Heupel brings in the right defensive staff. I guess I'm what you would consider a Negavol because I don't blindly support mediocrity and call out a lazy hire when I see it. It doesn't do you or anyone else any good to try to scold other Vol fans because they don't share your level of blind optimism. As always in Volnation, hope springs eternal but make sure your titanium cup is securely in place.

Every morning that I listen to sports talk here in Los Angeles, they play the Corona commercial. It is Green Bay and the Sea of Orange in Knoxville, TN. That's Jon's beach.

I still back Dooley. There is a lot of pride back in the University. I look forward to beating Georgia and South Carolina and coming back to this board to serve crow.

Book it.
.
I blame your attendance as the start if Tennessee's demise, lol.

Its good to be excited. Butch has done and said everything right. If Dooley taught us anything, talk is cheap. Results matter.

I ask the same thing from Butch I ask of all our other coaches. You have a full recruiting cycle (4 yrs) to show us what you can do with your players in your system. Give you all. Be humble. Be demanding. Be passionate. Win.
Pruitt will not be fired. Period.

1. This program is going through extreme financial hardship. You have your head buried in the sand if you can’t put that together. The program itself is forced to have reduced ticket sales, concessions, etc after stadium renovations and paying off a few Ex coaches.

Timing sucks

2. The AD sure as heck ain’t gonna dismiss a coach 3 years in. Year 1, he inherited Butch Jones Team. Year 2, he sprinkled in some freshman. Year 3, he has a sophomore and freshman base.

Now...tell me about all the great teams that Fulmer outfit with freshman and sophomore. I’m waiting.

3. Pruitt is a players coach. The guy coaches football. He sells the steak, not the sizzle. The guy stands with his players in their community stances. As long as Pruitt is building a team and a culture, he won’t be on a short leash.

You can be pissed about a lot of things. I’m personally confused by timid play calling. I’m confused as to where our leaders are (I see #11 on D and #73 on O, that’s it). Now, #2 on D has been MIA and he’s been a leader as well.

You might have divide because you have MORE TALENTED youngsters who don’t have the KNOWLEDGE of upper class man.

Football requires iterating. Iterating week to week. Iterating at halftime - which we suck at right now.

Pruitt will be back. I think Jim Chaney will be back. I think Chris Weinke is at right. The state of our backup QB is truly puzzling.

The future is Bailey. Time to release the Hound.

Posting a new thread drooling over every other coach is rather pathetic. Confirms my theory that not everyone should have internet access.

In before username checks out.

In before Millenials start whining about instant gratification like they are owed something for watching football on Saturdays

In before any other couch sitting fan decides to trash a team when they probably spend their life avoiding adversity so they can’t be criticized.

The loudest group of y’all are Pathetic

He didn't win the press conference (did I hear "NOLES" in there?)...but he didn't lose it either. Thousand times better then Beldar. Cautiously optimistic here and I'll be supportive. Didn't expect a home run so this stand up triple is fine.
