To Saban's Face

Yet another Kiffin comment ruffles feathers The Post and Courier - Charleston SC newspaper

When Kiffin and Alabama coach Nick Saban exchanged handshakes after Tennessee's 12-10 loss to the Tide, Kiffin didn't hold back.

"We'll get you next year," Kiffin told Saban.

That evidently didn't go over well with Saban, who isn't exactly regarded as the most even-tempered man in the league.

In some ways, this lifts the bar for Kiffin's "stuff-talking." As far as we know, Kiffin never said anything to Urban Meyer's face.

Guess the Third Saturday in October rivalry is back in a big way.

Just like he's going to sing rocky flop in the Swamp, CLK is a joke.

Oh he definately said something about next year from the replay as they passed after the handshake and Saban's comments to Kiffin. Looks more like "see ya next year" to me, but "we'll get you next year" is a much better story.

It bugs me that the old folks in this conference can't take Kiffin the way he intends to come across. A person with a good personality would have realized that he was only half-serious. If I was Saban, and Kiffin has said that to me, I would have laughed and said, "yeah right", or "we'll see...you might want to get your second SEC win first." Something like that.
Take a joke!

:)

Or how about:
LK - "We'll get you next year"
NS - "I bet you'll be thrilled to have a second SEC win"

Given the love CLK heaped on Saban before the game, I doubt he said that. I wish he had, but doubt it.

BTW, I got my first star! Still don't know how you rack up 40,000 posts in 4 years. Truly amazing.

I love how Lane is getting into people's heads. And it's kind of sad if the coach of the number 1 team in the country is getting his panties in a twist over this. He must be scared, otherwise a proper response would be "Bring it."

Yeah, this doesn't hardly ring true. Seems like Saban would just smile and say, yeh, good luck with that.

Maybe CLK said something else, like, the tide gonna get flushed next year.

I emailed him about this earlier and asked for his source because I'm sure he wasn't at the game to hear the quote for himself. He actually answered. He didn't give me a name but he said he was confident it was true. He also said the only reason it is news is because of Kiffin's track record...

Please tell me you all do not believe this crap. I'm sure Kiffin has the balls to say it, but I doubt very seriously that this reporter is the only one to know about it. I hate the media, simply because of junk like this..

Why would a UT grad write this stuff?

ST. MATTHEWS -- Even on a gray, rainy Tuesday morning, it takes 33 minutes to get from Columbia to the St. Matthews city limits.

In Los Angeles, if you drive 33 minutes, you're in, well, Los Angeles.

In Knoxville, if you drive 33 minutes, you're in, well, nowhere.

Quite A Catch The Post and Courier - Charleston SC newspaper

In Columbia, South Carolina, you don't even have to get in a car, because you're already nowhere. Columbia's nothing but potholed parking lots and trailer-home dealerships. With a McDonald's every so often so the locals have somewhere to go to take a crap with a flush toilet.

I think the fact that the number one team in the country had to block 2 field goals in order to beat a 5-7 team at home is a much funnier joke

I'd like for this guy to show his source. Sounds like more piling on. Kiffin has become a convenient target for the media, don't have a story, just make one up about Kiffin that will get some views. It's becoming annoying.

email him back and ask if the bigger story isn't why a thin skinned coach would be upset over such a comment. Why wouldn't a coach who has confidence in where his program is going say "we'll get you next year". What was he suppose to do, get on his knees and thank Saban for not beating him by 60 like Urban was suppose to do?

I could see him saying that to Meyer. I kinda get the idea that if TN can't win the SEC that KIffin would love to see BAMA beat FL. Maybe save up that3rd reprimand to jab Meyer at the end of the season.

Hey!!! If Kiffin did say that, who the (fill in your own explitive) cares. If Saban is offended, who the (fill in your own explitive) cares.:shaking2:

I really don't get why this a big topic. Coaches say that to the opposing coach all the time. You say "Good game, we'll get you next year." It is called a rivalry people. Saban's team won the game and if that comment pissed him off I wonder what happens when his wife back talks him. Tennessee didn't make the plays that they needed to win and we lost. "We'll get you next year."

Bama fans thought they were # 1 last year till they met the gators. The gators will do the same thing again this year too. Maybe you can play Boisie State in a bowl game

Actually it wasn"t just BAMA fans. They have the things called "polls" maybe you've seen them.
