The vast majority of the time, the team that out rebounds the other one wins. Yeah, in addition. they have to practice their free throw percentage to a team average percentage of 75 to 80% and to compete at the top they would have shoot somewhere in the neighborhood of 50% from the field, consistently.

I believe we have all the pieces. We just gotta stay healthy especially DK, Awaka and Aidoo. Gotta get ZZ back 100 and Vescovi back emotionally(I think he’s dealing w/family issues). Keep playing the young guys (Estrella,Freddy etc.)and hopefully they’ll be ready mid season to March.

He isn’t more successful than Pearl. He was just here longer. Either way, that’s not how it works. You hire a coach who believes they are better. This is a horrible take.

You changed the scenario. First you say what good coach would want the job. I replied who. Then you played AD and got sarcastic. My point is TN has proven it can recruit and has a good AD. They can find a better coach. Barnes has a ceiling and this is it. His multi decade record proves it.

CRB hasn’t turned the BB program into a dumpster fire and a punch line. He also had UT in 3x SECT finals while Bruce made it to one.

I used to have this exact same conversation when Butch Jones was coach. Some people just accept mediocre relevance. You can insult me all you want. Doesn’t change the fact we will be bounced by sweet sixteen at best. Probably second round. Insult all you want. I’ll reply in March after we get best again by a lesser team.

My contention is that, in the unlikely scenario that a proven, elite coach is willing to leave his current program in the first place, he's unlikely to be drawn to a school that's just fired a highly-respected colleague who consistently produced seasons in the top quintile of its record books. There would doubtless be no shortage of takers, coaches who "believe they are better," but finding one certain to surpass Barnes's record is highly unlikely, as our history (and not only our history) shows.

I contend that for one season, CJ Watson was the best point guard we've ever had at UT. Pearl turned the guards loose that first season. Lofton became the best shooting guard in the country at 6'2"

Have to get healthy and have to gel. Guys have to embrace their role, even if it isn’t the role they’ve been accustomed to filling. Also gotta do a much better job rebounding the ball. Rebounding will improve immensely if Awaka can get healthy and play without fouling.

Everyone upset with me is ok with knowing we will never be great, just ok. You quote his regular seasons stats but don’t bring up his tourney stats which are mediocre at best. You can say bless your heart and other childish stuff as you cherry pick his regular season but the man blows chunks in the tourney.

Pearl inherited JaJuan Smith and Chris Lofton from Buzz and THEY took UT to 2x Sweet 16s.

Even Cuonzo caught fire and matched Pearl’s 3 win trip to the NCAAT.

Pearl left after turning the program into hot garbage.

Barnes is 5-5 in the NCAAT. Bruce was 8-6. That’s pretty similar and Pearl had Lofton, Smith, and Watson on campus when he first walked into the TBA.

Barnes also has 3x SECT finals while Bruce had 1.
