Hey Ras,

Go outside and fix a pothole. And when the next car that comes through and crashes because you don't make a repair to spec, you foot the bill instead of the city, county, or state.

I have a better idea... why doesn't the city just fix the pothole before the citizens have to do it.

Is that too much to request?

You are absolutely wrong. People will change overnight and live in harmony. I plant green beans and you share your fresh homegrown tomatoes with me. A pothole appears on your street? I will sing zipity do da on my way over as I patch that hole for all of my fellow brethren. The current rich folk will throw all their money into a community kitty because greed will only be a figment of our imagination. Who would want money or power when we can have smiles across our faces that only plastic surgery could remove? Ahhh the beautiful butterflies and fresh air!

I will say that even though I'm fundamentally an anarchist, if I had a button I could press that would just turn government off overnight I wouldn't dream of pressing it. Just about everyone (myself included in many ways) has become far too dependent on the government. I'm not just talking about welfare either, though that portion of society would certainly present its fair share of problems. People aren't mentally ready for that and you can tell it by the way they respond to anarchist ideas. "Who would decide what is right and wrong?" "How would the roads get built?" Until people let go of this idea that they need to be ruled, it would never work.

It would have to be a gradual progression of elimination. How that would come about is anybody's guess. Possibly start shutting down agencies gradually, pick your alphabet soup agencies at will. I'm sure folks have their favorite agencies they'd like to see shut down, for me it's the DEA, FBI, and the ATF. Then go from there.

I feel like it goes way beyond "the idea we need to be ruled". I think people respond to anarchist ideas like you mentioned because are just basic things to which there isn't a simple solution. Why would one let his/her mind travel to much bigger societal issues if the simple things likely wouldnt be taken care of?

As for the potholes... Anyone who can't see how allowing the bureaucrat who's in charge of that to give a no-bid contract to his cousin, wo will charge 5 times what he should and take 3 times as long, is just an idiot.

Listen... Filling potholes isn't how people want to spend their time or money. Basically saying that if the government didn't suck at doing it people wouldn't feel the need.

In TN it is against the law to not change lanes for emergency vehicles

Sometimes you literally can't. I-24 is routinely a parking lot in and around Nashville during the morning/evening rush. I always feel bad for whoever the emergency vehicles are trying to get to during those times.

I went over and did some charity work this afternoon for an America Indian woman. Her grass was 4 foot tall and thick as hell. Took me a few hours but I got it mowed down enough her brother can come and mow it with a rider.

On the way home, a deputy pulled In behind me. My trailer lights were not working.

Can you believe this sob stopped to me to tell me this????

Required no id. No proof of insurance. Nothing.

Freaking ass!!!!

No one was in danger... Should have let you go and been looking for banksters, murderers and thieves... Or, shoveling the roadkill off the highway which is more of a traffic obstacle than your stinking trailer lights... But you cant generate revenue from scraping deer and armadillo off the roads.

I hope you filed suit with the city. No sense in someone pulling you over, creating a bottle neck for traffic, just to let you know your taillights aren't working. I mean, what does he expect? No way that could prevent you from being rear ended on down the road. Cop was just tossing around his authority imo.
