He got upset that she didn't recognize his authority. Then he decides to threaten her with the taser. What a guy...
All for failing to signal a lane change, good grief.
Of course the apologists will arrive and say if she'd complied with the lawful "command" of the officer none of this would've happened.

Sooner or later they will realize this is all about revenue. Nothing more, nothing less.

Your money, or your life.

Sad.

Around 22:00, "I put my taser away. I tried talking to her, calming her down..."

Did he not know he was on his own video?

ETA:

Around 27:00. (On phone to supervisor) Well, technically she was under arrest when the traffic stop began. She wasn't free to leave. That's lawful.

This just gets more troubling.

Words can't describe how angry that video makes me. I've had serious doubts about the suicide from the beginning but haven't voiced them. Now I'm firmly convinced they most they likely killed her and covered it up. Sorry but the DA saying that no one came in/out of her cell couldn't possibly be more meaningless.

In the words of George Carlin...."I have certain rules I live by.... The first rule is that I Don't believe anything the government tells me."

This video coupled with family's description of her mood/behavior just hours before paints a fairly obvious picture for me.

A few minutes before that, he tells the female officer that Bland kicked him and was combative. I didn't see that in the video. Then his whole retelling is a fabrication to make him look good.

I vote we wait for the facts of the investigation and autopsy to come out, rather than rely on speculation about videos being altered and comments from family members about something as vague as "her mood" when they are understandably distraught, but have no knowledge of the actual incident.

And serious question in the meantime: Motive?

That is good advice. The timeline the police put out says she at breakfast around 7am, then asked to make a phone call around 8. About an hour later they found her dead in her cell from self inflicted asphyxiation.

My question would be who did she call? If she called a family member or lawyer and was happily spending the money she was going to get from a settlement, then I would suspect foul play. But, if she called her new employer to let them know what happened and they fired her, then I would suspect suicide.

Not sure what you're saying here.

Not sure what you're saying here.

Wait, people are claiming the cop killed her or something?

The family is suggesting that she was murdered because they cannot fathom why she would commit suicide. But they are also downplaying posts she had made to social media about battling depression and post traumatic stress disorder. And they are saying they don't believe it was in her nature to be argumentative with police, though she was.

They are also suggesting that video showing no one going in or out of her cell between being placed there and being discovered having apparently hung herself has been altered.

Their claims are being investigated. It is disturbing to me how many people are just willing to accept this speculation and pure guess-work, from people who have zero knowledge of the facts, but who are obviously and understandably upset, and start jumping to all sorts of wild conclusions.

I have extremely serious doubts that her death was a suicide, though I doubt it was that particular jackass who did it.

That's the thing... When it comes out that the first half of your story is a compete and total bold face lie then I'm gonna have a really hard time the other part.

She wasn't very argumentative until he had greatly escalated things.

The forensics wont lie......just have to wait on the report....the family will have their own experts as well.

I guess I should read more thoroughly before posting.

If a cop pulls you over and asks you if you are upset, what would the proper answer be that would keep you from being dragged out the car?

Also, there need to be some clear guidelines on when a person should have to get out of their cars. From what we've seen lately, they seem to think they can ask you out the car for any reason.

With this statement, you totally fail the credibility test. :thud:

Oh, really?

Have you watched the entire dash cam video?

Or just the part popular in the news right now, after things had escalated?

She is hardly as cooperative as being portrayed by many. She is agitated and arguing. Now, if you want to say that you think the officer overreacted to her, and let her get his goat, so to speak, I'm fine with that. That's a legit critique.

But do not for one second pretend that she was a model of cooperation. I ESPECIALLY encourage you to consider how pleasant and polite he was to her at the beginning, and how that turned WHEN SHE started arguing with him over basically everything he was doing.

I question whether it was really any traffic violation... or at least one worthy of a traffic stop. Hell, on the video, she even says the cop started following her and she was getting out of his way before he turned on the blue lights...
