How long have you lived in Oklahoma ? This case took awhile to solve but I am glad the scumbag is behind bars now Man charged in deaths of 2 Oklahoma girls left in ditch - CNN.com

Before my time out here.

The Washington case got a huge break in the fact the perp was already registered in a DNA database so identifying him was pretty simple and tracking him obviously wasn't hard either. But some cases, like this one you mentioned, take a lot longer to figure out because the victims had zero relation to the perp and happened to be victims of circumstance. And it seems like the cops did a pretty decent job of tracking him down eventually. It does appear it took a lot longer than might be expected, but considering the forensic evidence used and how it was obtained, it should be expected to take a bit longer.

Sometimes you get really lucky breaks like in Washington, sometimes the cases take a lot longer to figure out like this one.

Police Officer: 'if you don

Very interesting reading.

The first link is thoughtful and pretty well tells the tale from the other side.

The second link is garbage of the first degree that twists everything he says completely the wrong way.

Kinda thought you'd see it that way. So it's just "garbage" huh? The comments on the Reason article are gold though.

That's actually me being objective about the situation as I've been on both sides of the coin.

Here's the deal, everything in the first article is correct. And it's very reasonably worded and goes as far as to admit there are the select few LEOs that cause trouble for the remainder of them. And people can/will make the situation worse by overreacting and causing a scene. It does nobody any good to cause a confrontation with a LEO because you will lose.

And if you do feel like your rights have been violated and the LEO was out of line, there are plenty of legal channels to take that can extract the pound of flesh that is sought. Lawsuits for example. Or filing complaints that can work given time. Talking to local city or county governments with signed petitions. Voting for the sheriff is yet another resolution that doesn't require one to lose their temper with a LEO.

However, the Reason article twists everything around and basically says you have to be "submissive" towards LEOs. And at no point in that original article is that implied or stated. There's a huge difference in being polite and professional and causing a scene. And I guarantee you will get more out of killing a cop with kindness rather than spouting off. Because again, you will escalate the situation and lose in the end.

Don't think I automatically take the LEO side in everything. However, when a website like Reason NEVER looks at anything LEO related objectively, you can understand why I said it's garbage.

Good read.

Was still overly biased. Said a lot without actually saying what happened but hinted his son was a known trouble maker. Doesn't make it right....or wrong.....he chose to leave out way too many details to form an unbiased opinion.

I concur.

That kinda goes along the lines of what we were speaking of in the other thread, no? Independent investigators.

It is. And I think it certainly would provide a more objective view of police shootings.

However, again determining the members is the trick.

The details of his sons death were irrelevant to his point.

He's saying the cops were wrong. He didn't like that the cop was cleared & wanted to change the process. The details he gave didn't say anything. For all we know he made it harder to prove justifiable shootings.
