This profession, for some reason, attracts a disproportionate number of psychopaths. For such an important job that can ruin lives, it would seem that psychological evaluations should be performed before being hired. This won’t ever happen though because that would weed out too many candidates.

From what I hear from long time law enforcement family and friends, the national movement against law enforcement that demonized the profession in general made the sane people think twice about taking on that load of **** for low pay, so they've had to lower standards to fill numbers.

Basically, the dangerous job with low pay used to attract a mix of idealists with good intentions and authority-hungry ***holes. These days, that mix seems to be leaning toward the authority-hungry ***holes.

its sad to say this, but which one was the Breonna Taylor raid? Was that the one where they raided the wrong address and shot the innocent person there?

or was it the one where it was the right address, but the suspect wasn't there, and she was shot after they secured the place and didn't find anything wrong?

or was it some other case?

Top. Not sure how innocent anyone was. Her BF was for sure a drug dealer. He starts shooting at the police. She is in the bedroom with him and gets hit

man what a weird case. so this cop is being sentenced for firing 10 shots that hit no one. I get the excessive force, especially when another family was almost hit in their apartment.

but the cops who actually shot Breonna aren't being charged.

just a general comment and not asking anyone to provide or look it up; but that seems pretty backwards. maybe knowing where each cop was and where they shot would clear things up. a hallway was mentioned, so like if the two cops shot into the hallway where both Breonna and her BF were, but this cop shot 90 degrees from there, I could see why he was the only one charged. but without info it just seems weird to me.

This is crazy. Maybe all is justified, can't see everything that's happening and don't have context, but seems way overboard to be shooting 3 dozen bullets at one guy running with people/cars all around. Like, why didn't they just run him down? They probably have an explanation, but still

Breana Taylor- They had already served a warrant at her ex boyfriend’s house earlier that day and had him in custody and found he picked up Amazon packages at Breana’s house. They assumed it was drugs he was picking up.
The initial no knock warrant included Breana’s address and the testimony from 2 neighbors who initially said they didn’t announce changed their testimony to they announced later.
So they broke the door, her current boyfriend shot at police and Breana was shot 6 times. They waited about 25 minutes to go in.
The only officer charged was the one to the right of the front door who fired through the living room after the first shot. There were several bullets that ended up going through other apts.

Civil Asset Forfeiture gained around 3 billion dollars for the government from cases that didnt end with convictions over a decade. That money was not returned without a separate civil case. And sense most of the seizures were small, most people didnt bother.

I tried searching for the report but it's been archived beyond my reach. The report does it exist and the synopsis does back this up.

One of the articles I read went on to claim most of those cases never even made it to court.

Another was saying that in like 3 of those 10 years the government stole more value from citizens than criminals did. Just thru civil asset seizures.
